Kamerar V15-345 overview

  • 1Description

The BrightCast V15-345 Flexible Bi-Color LED Panel from Kamerar is a 12 x 12" light source that allows you to bend it into the shape that best suits your subject permitting placement in tight spaces where traditional fixtures just can't go. The V15-345 has all of the benefits offered by LED use including low power draw and cool running temperature but it's also dimmable and has color temperature that's variable from approximately 3200 to 5600K or anywhere in between while maintaining a high CRI of 97 in the tungsten range and 98 in the daylight range. This feature allows you to light creatively, match other fixtures, or deal with the ambient light conditions.

The rugged, shock-proof, V15-345 panel is IP67-rated water-resistant and can even withstand accidental submersion in water up to 3.28' deep (panel only). With an integrated 5/8" tilting stand mount, the power supply runs on 100-240 VAC mains power via an AC adapter, making it ready for worldwide use, but you can also run on batteries, provided they have a D-tap connector, when mains power is unavailable thanks to the V-Mount control frame. The V15-345 rolls into a cylinder to fit in the included padded, compact carrying case along with its accessories.

Flexible, Yet Rugged
Bend your LED panel to shape it to your lighting needs with the Kamerar BrightCast V15-345. This thin and lightweight fixture is flexible enough to be squeezed into tight areas unlike traditional light panels. The flexible shape provides maximum portability with its ability to tightly fold into its small sling carrying case.
Maximum Durability
The V15-345 is designed to withstand the most demanding shoots. With an IP67 rating, the LED panel is water-resistant and dust-proof (the IP67 rating is for the LED panel only). The panel is protected against rain, splashing and accidental submersion in up to 3.28' of water. The reinforced frame gives the LED panel increased durability, providing extended use.
Shape Your Light
Control the light in almost any direction imaginable. The ultra-thin LED panel can bend to increase the light spread for maximum area coverage. Curve the corners of your panel or create a cylindrical wrap to create the perfect light shape for your shoot.
256 Bi-Color LED Chips
With high CRI LEDs, colors are rendered naturally and faithfully. Make your reds, greens and blues look just the way they should.
Complete Color Control
The V15-345 offers the convenience of precise color with seamless color temperature control. Each LED chip features both daylight and tungsten LEDs so you can set it anywhere between 3200K to 5600K for creative lighting or to match other fixtures or ambient light conditions.
Power Options
Use the Kamerar BrightCast LED panel in your studio or on location. With different ways to power the light, choose the solution that best fits your situation. Mount your separately purchased V-Mount battery on the control handle or connect the AC adapter for use with mains power.

    Kamerar V15-345 reviews

BrightCast V15-345 Flexible Bi-Color LED Panel with V-Mount is rated 3.3 out of 5 by 6.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Pretty darn fantastic Hi everyone - Just a quick note that these are legit, and should be strongly considered if you're looking at lights in this price range. It's true that the 12x12 pop-up diffusers (available separately $30) will not get you the same level of spread as a nice big umbrella-style, but it's more than adequate for 90% of my work. The flexibility of the lights will be a big asset to SOME styles of work (macro-video, perhaps) but in reality it just makes the units a little bit less combersome and easier to work with. Quality components throughout. The only thing I found wishing for was that this unit had a metal rosette angle attachment at the base -- although it's a very high-density plastic (think the material your v-mount batteries are made of) I always worry about wear over time. I'll likely be taping the batteries to the pole like usual, and using the D-tap (provided) to power the lights. Hope this helps everyone, J

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Hissing noise, already 1 LED out, shipped broken I bought 3 of these as one of my older LEDs finally broke and a friend loved his Kamerar. 3/3 of them shipped with a broken plastic mounting clip. The velcro does a good job, so I was like - meh. Then I started using them. They emit a high-pitched hissing noise that is not that loud, but still audible. So for interviews, have fun with that! Also one of the LEDs is out already on one of the panels. I've been using them for a total of 1 hour of field time. For the price-point, I'd avoid.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Much smaller than my other kit I am quite happy with these lights. I bought them as a portable location lighting solution, and they are certainly that. They're not as bright as I had hoped, but they certainly do throw a good amount of light for most situations, and they do cover a variety of color temperatures. The knobs are very small and you'll have to memorize which is which because at a glance it's not easily identifiable. Obviously you can't attach traditional diffusion to this. The manufacturer's velcro softbox doesn't fit securely, and it also impedes your ability to angle the light down. As a result I have to bring separate diffusion, which means another bag and more grip stuff to carry. Otherwise these lights work great.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Great when they work I own 2 of these and the color rendition is the best that I have ever seen with an LED. They are perfect for tight spaces like car interiors, etc and lightweight and bright. Unfortunately the LEDs go out easily so I have had to return both of my units to Kamerar. Now the dimming control on one of the ballasts has developed a short and is causing the unit to flicker. To Kamerar’s credit, they Have a US office and have been good about servicing these lights, but it’s a hassle to keep sending them back. I would recommend these but not for everyday use, they just aren’t durable enough.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Defective lights I'm amending my previous review after interacting with Kamerar customer service. I bought 2 of these units and both developed the same issues right away. First the led's started going out and then the dimmer and color temperature controls started shorting and causing the lights to flicker. I sent the lights back to Kamerar's US distributer and they replaced them but the replacements developed the exact same issues. The distributer refused to replace the replacements but the Kamerar rep told me that there was a new "upgraded" 345P model. According to the literature, the only upgrade is that they no longer break right away. After months of back and forth they finally offered to let me "upgrade" to the non-defective lights for an extra $100 each. How generous. I wouldn't buy these or any other product this company sells.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great for the price! After using a client's units, I purchased two of them myself. I tested them with my Sekonic C700 color meter and found the units to be very accurate, with a high CRI. They are not the brightest lights, around 1200 LUX at 1 meter, but not bad.
