    LG 32UD99-W reviews

    32UD99-W 31.5" 16:9 HDR10 FreeSync IPS Monitor is rated 4.2 out of 5 by 17.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Decent 4k monitor Finally got my hands on this monitor after months of wait. Overall satisfied, but with a few reservations. Packaging and cosmetics: Monitor is very well packaged, with layers of protection. High quality feel overall. Comes with hdmi, display port, and usb-c cables, but unfortunately only 3-ft long. Color representation: pretty good with a few calibration, at least up to my standard. Colors are vibrant and bright, but a bit over saturated under certain modes. view angle is also good. No ghost effect or obvious input lag. There is a bit of IPS glow at dark scenes probably due to the size of the screen, but acceptable. Uniformity: it has some backlight bleeding, which is expected, especially for 32' panels. (See attachment photo). At least mine is symmetric, better than one corner / one side bleed. Note that the actual bleeding effect is not nearly as bad as the photo shows here, camera tend to exaggerate the effect a lot. Connections: everything works, especially USB-C, plug in my Macbook pro touch and it works like a charm. The drawback is downstream USB port only available at the back, which is hardly useful. Control and options: Only one joystick-like button at the center, takes a while to get use to. Menu option is LG-standard. (Again you may want to turn off the stupid energy-saving feature to avoid monitor brightness auto-adjustment). Surprisingly, there are lots of features towards gaming, such as picture mode for different type of games (FPS, RTS...), several levels of response time, free sync support, etc. There is also a short cut to switch to game mode. HDR: This is one of the main sell point of this monitor, and the main reason I'd dock a star. The monitor can recognize HDR signals. In windows you can turn on HDR and advanced color, and the monitor's menu even changed once it's switched on. Picture mode changed to several HDR preset mode. However, the end effect is not so impressive. The whole screen darkened, feel like underexposure, yet some bright areas look like overexposure. The worst thing is, text font is no longer sharp under HDR mode, it has red-and-bluish tints, which is unbearable. Maybe the whole HDR idea doesn't work for desktop monitors, or maybe the windows implementation has problem, in the end I turn off HDR and just use the normal picture mode which is pretty good already. Haven't test the PS4 HDR gaming yet, hope it works better.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Follow up to earlier review After searching multiple solutions to solve the HDMI connection not displaying the full refresh rate, I found a solution that has helped me solve the problem. I initially checked LG's website but didn't see any firmware updates. I then noticed that they have OnScreen Control software available for download so I tried it out. After installing the software I didn't see any changes until I checked the Game mode settings. I noticed that it was displaying off by default so I switched it to Normal. After I did this, the monitor flashed and noticed my mouse tracking was a lot smoother. I checked the refresh rate and saw the the full refresh rate via HDMI was restored. I've done multiple reboots to see if the settings were retained and they did stay. I therefore have increased the rating of the monitor to 4 stars but not 5 given that this solution relies on software and is not integrated to the firmware.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from 32 4K USB-C works great with MBP 32 4K USB-C works great with MBP and plugged in HDMI for my windows desktop... another HDMI and display port still available!!! Nice thin bezel, actually smaller than the Dell 32 counterpart that doesn't have USB-C ...

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Mixed experiences The monitor look great hooked up with my 2016 and 2017 15" MacBook Pros. Only issue is the monitor will not do USB 3.0 when using the single USB C cable to the laptop for video and USB. I've had the monitor "repaired" and have a loaner monitor that all exhibit the same USB 3.0 issue. 5 weeks later, LG still doesn't have an update as to why monitor can't do 4k video and USB 3.0 over a single USB C cable on my 15" MacBook Pros. Lack of response from LG is making me regret this purchase.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from B&H bait & switch, but great monitor Shipped to South Africa, where Amazon guarantees all taxes and fees less than $150. B&H doesn't provide a quote, which ended up being $800 on an $880 monitor! That's absurd they don't warn the consumers, esp. when Amazon guarantees such a reduced amount. Yes - i took a risk ordering through B&H - a mistake I won't make again. Monitor was delivered successfully in the end (though several days late), and without damage, so at least there's that. Just paid double for it. :/

Rated 5 out of 5 by from LG rocks This monitor is a must have if you care about visuals. Colors are beautiful and calibrated well from factory. 550 nits HDR works well and don't let anyone tell you otherwise.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Worth the wait I waited months to receive this monitor and now that it's arrived and all setup, I love it. My laptop is 4K and I am really enjoying my new workflow. All of the Adobe apps I use look amazing... I'm seeing things in Photoshop I never saw before. Completely worth the wait.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great monitor for ps4 PRO Absolutely incredible for PS4 Pro - 4k resolution and HDR... FPS game mode. Very easy set up, just use HDMI cable from PS4. This is the only monitor that supports HDR... expensive but worth the money
