DigiTech FreqOut Natural Feedback Creator Pedal
Key Features
  • Generates Guitar Feedback at Any Volume
  • Works with Distorted or Clean Signals
  • Onset Delay and Level/Balance Controls
  • Choose Between 7 Harmonic Types
If you've ever wanted to generate the harmonic feedback that comes from holding your guitar to an amp cranked to eleven—but at lower volumes and with greater control—then the FreqOut from DigiTech might just be the pedal for you. This is a natural feedback generator in a stompbox enclosure which gives you control over the harmonics you'd like to hear when the feedback starts, the level of the feedback, the amount of time it takes for the feedback to hit you at full force, and even its duration. You can, for instance, set the pedal to kill all feedback whenever you take your foot off the footswitch. In this manner, you can effectively control many aspects of a characteristically unpredictable and organic stage process.

DigiTech FreqOut Overview

This pedal is useful in live scenarios, in the studio, and in practice situations, where you may not be able to get as loud as you'd like. The FreqOut can even work with a clean, non-distorted signal. In addition to its intended effect, the pedal can also facilitate creative experimentation on stage. It utilizes a true-bypass footswitch and a steel chassis to promote durability. It requires a separately available 9 VDC power adapter to run.

Knobs & Switches at a Glance
  • Gain knob (center): This controls the amount of feedback signal that is mixed in with the dry guitar signal
  • Onset knob (ring): This knob, located at the base of the knob-stack, sets the time it takes for the feedback to grow to full strength
  • Type knob: With this knob, you can select from one of seven feedback harmonic types
  • Dry switch: Flick this switch to choose whether or not to keep your dry signal path on when the feedback effect is initiated.
  • Momentary switch: This switch sets the operation of the footswitch; when set to the “ON” position, the feedback effect will only be enabled as long as the footswitch is held down, so you can control when the feedback sound ends
  • Feedback LEDs: These LEDs will give you a graphical readout of how loud your feedback is getting

DigiTech FreqOut Reviews

great harmonic feedback

great little toy! 7 types of feedback to choose from, toggles for dry on/off and momentary/latch. If I could make one change to this pedal, it would be to add a function for duration -- the feedback only lasts as long as the note is sustained, which is fine for the most part, but it would really soar with some add'l delay/sustain

GREAT service UNFORGIVABLE delay and lack of info

The FreqOut is an exciting PERFECT feedbacker FINALLY on the market after years of others that laughably sound like a BAD synth pedal. Truly flexable, offering the variety of feedback effects, pitches, levels, attacks anyone could want. It's as if there's a piece of the late Mr. Hendrix inside the box! Now go learn to play like him to do this pedal justice! As far as the release of this pedal, it was MOST disappointlingly delayed (I ordered it last year) and it didn't arrive until many months later. Digitech (or whoever bungled the launch) goofed by not telling sellers what to say to customers. My only complaint is the I DON'T KNOW reply to every call over the last few months. and the sad emails from the dealer with no explanation, just notices of more delay (and disappointment). After all the frustration, I FINALLY received a very nice pedal that truly emulates feedback! Note: the customer service reps I spoke with were as frustrated as I was about it, and being kind and clear about I DON't KNOW' being their only possible answer, I can not fault them for anything. THIS problem was obviously mistakes made higher up. Perhaps they will get their act together enough to prove to customer they should come back for a FAST and satisfying deal, not just one that depends on a good product to cover for logistical incompetence. The customer never cares whether the delay is in manufacture, shipping, or any other reason--the customer just wants it within a week or so after ordering (during the initial enthusiasm)--after that wears off, then it's B&H in this case that looks bad, no matter how good the customer service reps handle it..
