Glidecam GLCNTN2 overview

  • 1Description

Stabilize your camera with the versatile Centurion Dual-Handle Motorized Gimbal from Glidecam, a three-axis, brushless, motorized gimbal stabilizer. Able to support mirrorless or DSLR cameras weighing up to five pounds, the Centurion uses three motors to counteract vibrations from the operator, resulting in smooth camera movement for tracking shots. The internal 32-bit processor can compensate for angular vibrations as fine as ±0.02°.

The Centurion can be operated in single or dual-grip configurations, depending on your preferred setup. In either configuration, the integrated joystick controls the camera platform's pan and tilt so you can simultaneously stabilize and control the camera precisely. Thanks to the slip rings, the Centurion can be set up to operate in inverted and briefcase orientations without reprogramming or loading profiles.

To ensure that the Centurion can be consistently balanced, a balancing stand is included. When not in use, the stand can be folded down for convenient storage. Four batteries, two chargers, and all necessary camera mounting hardware components are included.

Operating Modes
The internal processor offers five programmable control modes to suit your shooting style. By default, the Centurion is set as follows:
  • 1: Follow Mode
  • 2: Lock Pitch/Follow Yaw
  • 3: Lock Mode
  • 4: Customizable
  • 5: Calibrate ACC
Additional profiles can be programmed in using the free software available from Glidecam. A USB stick with the software is included, and the software is also available for download from the Glidecam website.

    Glidecam GLCNTN2 reviews

Centurion is rated 4.2 out of 5 by 22.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Watch out for loose parts I've been having a hard time balancing this gimbal with the G85+quick release+speedbooster XL+ =Samyang 15mm. I spent 2 days fiddling with the software, tweaking every parameter to no avail. Long story short, it was the quick release plate letting in some vibrations because of the heavy lens and front heavy setup. The gimbal amplified those vibrations and forced me to use low power and dampening parameters. Solved it by putting in a spacer to support the lens. I've written this to help those who say they're having trouble with balancing a certain cameras although they fit in the weight limits of the gimbal. Happy smooth shooting everyone!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Sweet Little Gimbal We bought this as a backup for my Ronin because sometimes my Ronin freaks out and wont work right. However, I think this is going to be my new primary gimbal. It's so much lighter and more versatile than my Ronin. I mainly shoot with the GH4 and GH5, which is a great setup for this little rig. I have also used my Canon 5d and 7d. I just added an extra quick release plate that slides for extra room to balance a longer lens. The single grip mode is a cool feature and the built in joystick lets me line up my shot just right. So far I would recommend this over any DJI product I've used so far. I've also used the movi, but no need to spend that much money when Glidecam is selling motorized gimbals at this price :)

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Would be perfect if it wasn't for so simple caveats I thought it would be the perfect solution between the one hand gimbals and the Ronin M, but the handles for both single and two hand use are not tight even if you tight it with an allen key - this messes with your image when you most need it. It has no bluetooth connection and is bulkier than I thought. Last but not least, it has tinny cables everywhere for the motors - one day I would end up breaking those just because they weren't protected at all. End up buying the Pilotfly H2 (same payload, much smaller, no cables on sight).

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very light and very practical I own a Glidecam 4000HD and Glidecam DGS. I love my DGS and it will be my, still to go stabilizer. However, Sometimes I need the form factor and the single hand operation of a 3 axis gimbal. After a long research... I bought Centurion. It has dual functionality. Either you can use it single hand or dual. The gimbal is very light. Lighter than DGS. Setting up is not as fast as DGS but still very easy. I was up and running in less than 20 minutes... that's unboxing included. I use this primarily for filming from a moving vehicle.. it works great with Panasonic GH4 with Metabones Speedbooster and Tokina 11-16mm

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Good potential, but not a product that is ready for sale. I purchased this gimbal when B&H was offering it for $699, so great deal! Before buying it, I did a little bit of research into and it and found out it is a relatively new product by Glidecam and doesn't have very many reviews. Upon getting the product, the packaging was average. I know a lot of cheaper gimbals on the market come with a Pelican style traveling case, that would of been nice to see here. While assembling the Centurion, I felt that this product just wasn't built with as much quality as I expected. The handles were never tight enough, screws didn't fit right and the carbon fiber handles felt very cheap and scratched because of how you have to install them. Glidecam does have a YouTube channel that will walk you through the setup process. However, these videos are far from the best that they could be. The gentleman in the video rushes through the setup and fails to explain different balancing methods besides the one that he uses. In the end, I was never able to properly balance my Canon SL2 with 50mm lens or 18-55mm lens. Both these combos are well under the weight requirement for the gimbal, yet even in the most reclined position the camera cradle always tipped forward. Frustration was the only word I could use to describe this setup process. Additionally, the screws to tighten the pieces that balance the camera are not smooth to move to allow fine tuning. Overall I am disappointed with the Glidcam product. It really feels that they released this product too fast and should still be in developmental stage. I know Glidecam, as a company, makes amazing products so I was unhappy to see that this new product line is off to a bad start. As a wedding videography for many years now, I would 100% stay away from this gimbal and go with a cheaper, more reliable option from a company such as Zhiyun. Glidecam needs to refine this product to make it compete with the many different options on the market today. This gimbal has potential, it just needs work.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Build Quality, got smooth shots in 30 minutes Got this for my GH4 and after watching the video had it up and running within 30 minutes with silky smooth shots. Great build quality and good how to videos combine to make this a great piece of kit.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Buying it again! I wrote a review a couple months ago, but somehow it disappeared. Anyway, I am back to purchase a second Centurion. This was my first gimbal and excited to see prices finally coming down to a reasonable level. I use the Sony Alpha A7 II, and get really nice results. I can notice some shake when I zoom in, but I've been told to usually shoot wide. Works right out of the box, too. I had to follow the manual to balance my camera. Looks like there are instructional videos now, so that's awesome. Way to listen to your customers, Glidecam! I heard awful things about DJI's customer service and glitchy software, so it's nice to have a US company who's known for making good products and good customer service. My first Centurion has worked really well for a couple months now, and I always like having backup camera equipment, so I'm going to purchase a second one of these.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Awesome stabilizer!! Glidecam Centurion is a true breakthrough in motorized gimbals. I've been wanting to invest in a motorized gimbal for years but couldn't justify the price tag. This product is just unbelievable for it delivers. Small, light and flexible...allowing it to be held in several positions when shooting. This is a great solution for my 5D MK III. Well done Glidecam!
