SLIK Pro 700 DX Tripod with 700DX Pan/Tilt He... Overview

This titanium-colored,SLIK Pro 700 DX Tripod with 700 DX 3-Way, Pan-and-Tilt Head supports up to 19.8 lb, measures 29.9" when folded, and includes a quick release plate. Each of its 3-section legs features an independent spread, a 3-position angle lock, and flip locks for fast deployment. The included push-and-pull, rapid center column is multi-sectional, which allows it to be converted to a shortened center column. This feature permits a minimum height of 25.4" or 16.1" when the center column is shortened. The SLIK Pro 700 DX Tripod provides a maximum height of 60.0", 65.8" with its center column shortened as well as fully raised, and 75.0" with the complete column fully raised.

Cameras, sport optics, or camcorders that are compatible with a 1/4"-20 mount can be connected to the quick release plate, which is secured to the tripod's pan-and-tilt head using a quick release cam lock. The head can be rotated 360°, and tilted 90° backwards or forwards, as well as sideways for portrait orientation. Each of these three movements function independently of each other and can be locked into place.

For added versatility, the center column is reversible, facilitating low-angle photography where an attached camera is positioned among the tripod's legs instead of above them. Foam covers on each of the legs provide a secure and comfortable grip while moving the tripod, and rubber feet help to enhance stability on a wide variety of surfaces.

SLIK Pro 700 DX Tripod with 700DX Pan/Tilt He... Reviews

Reliable general-use tripod

I’m writing this review because I genuinely love this piece of gear. This tripod has served me well for nearly 15 years now. It’s rock-solid and reliable, with all the features I need to get the shots I want out in nature settings. Despite its rather bulky appearance, the 700DX is surprisingly maneuverable. The ability to adjust the angle of individual legs has enabled me to get stable footing in a variety of difficult scenarios, whether amid the crags of a massive boulder or in the middle of a rushing river. I’ve always favored a pan-and-tilt head for the precision adjustments it offers, and this one is as sturdy and reliable as the legs. The disc-style quick release plate is very easy to pop in and out. It has proven especially useful whenever I need to shoot vertically. I’m able to spin the camera body to tilt vertical shots and then tighten without any fear of slippage. The only downside is the lack of accessories compatible with such a system, but inexpensive 1/4”-20 adapters are available to facilitate various other attachments and peripherals. I bought this tripod system back in the day because it seemed like a decent value for the features it offered. Not only am I still happily using it many years later, but I can’t imagine why I would need to upgrade anytime soon. When you’re shooting out in the elements and on uncertain ground, you want a tripod that you can trust, and this one has been imminently reliable for as long as I’ve been using it.

Sturdy and versatile

This is an excellent tripod for still camera photography. It is well built, extremely sturdy and quite versatile. The legs have two locking positions when they spread out. The head is easy to adjust for tilt and pan and has two bubble levels. Some reviews have mentioned the weight - at 7lbs, it is not heavy for a studio or location shoot but would be hard to carry for a back packer/photographer. Overall I am very satisfied with the quality and performance of this tripod.

Will the 3way head support the Photek TRI-X-2500 ...

Will the 3way head support the Photek TRI-X-2500 Tripod Extender with a light weight camcorder or camera. I'm concerned about the quick release. Will everything work together?
Asked by: Frank
This tripod has a load capacity of 19.8 pounds. It should be able to handle the weight of a small camera or camcorder and B&H # PHT2500. However we suggest that you use a sandbag on the other side that the camera is not on to keep the tripod balanced. An option that you can fill yourself, as you may not need a full 5 pounds, would be the ideal choice for that. https://bhpho.to/2K5SHpe
