The StarTech USB 3.0 Flash Memory Multi-Card Reader/Writer with USB-C has slots for different kinds of memory cards. It does not have memory and cannot be formatted. The memory card is removed from the camera and is placed in the card reader to download the files to your computer. You should always format the memory card in your camera.
