Never point an optic at the sun without an approved solar filter on the front of the optic. For direct solar viewing, viewing the sun through an optic, or when using cameras with an optical viewfinder, ensure your filter is ISO 12312-2 (also written as ISO 12312-2:2015) certified. An ideal companion for most outdoor enthusiasts, the Meade 10x50 EclipseView Binocular features a powerful combination of magnification and objective lens size, with the added versatility of removable white-light solar filters to view the Sun or solar eclipses. With the filters removed, the binocular can be used for conventional terrestrial or nighttime astronomical viewing with the benefits of a large exit pupil that completely covers most fully-dilated pupils in low-light conditions to avoid vignetting, and a field of view that borders on wide-angle. The two included solar filters install over the front of the objectives and allow safe viewing of sunspots, granulations, planetary transits, and all phases of solar eclipses. For long-duration observation sessions, such as watching all phases of a total solar eclipse, the EclipseView binocular can be tripod mounted using optional adapters.

10x50 EclipseView Binocular with Solar Filters is rated 4.6 out of 5 by 32.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Inexpensive but nice quality I don't have much to compare this with, except my old binoculars from college bird watching many, many years ago. They were metal, these are plastic. There are more expensive mid-high and premium quality binoculars you can buy, so I hesitate to give them 5 stars, That said, they are nice quality lenses. these are low cost binoculars with a special purpose (sun viewing) for for that purpose they are terrific. If you want to view the solar eclipse this August, go for them! The Solar filters slip on and off easily, and their are lens caps for everything. Now if it only would not rain for the solar eclipse....

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Surprisingly Good for the Price! I purchased these binoculars for the August 21st 2017 solar eclipse, which has not happened yet. Still, I used the binoculars to look at the sun, and was delighted to see very obvious sunspots. Over the course of a week or so,I could see that the spots were moving from left to right as the sun rotated. The filters are easy to remove (though I feel very confident they will stay on when they are supposed to). When you take the filters off, you have a decent set of binoculars for looking at birds, wildlife and the like. For this price, I was half expecting junk, but was very pleasantly surprised. No, these are not professional grade, but for anyone looking for an affordable way to safely view the sun, as well as have a halfway decent set of binoculars for other uses, I think this is a great buy!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Chicago Astronomer Approved.... The Binos arrived safely and without damage. Tested them on a partly cloudy Chicago day and they performed beautifully. The filters as expected lend a orange hue to the solar disk and at 10x magnification, disk size is acceptable. The objective filters secure nicely with friction fit and thumb screw. Solar disk edge was sharp, but with no sunspot activity this day, pretty bland. Popping the filters off, scanned the surrounding neighborhood and images were clear and sharp with just a ever so slight achromatic aberration, acceptable for the price. Thrown in with this deal were five Lunt solar glasses and a micro cleaning cloth with rubber dots on the non-cleaning side. Nice. These will be a good addition to the Chicago Astronomer arsenal and my astronomy students will enjoy them. These will travel with me for the August 2017 eclipse, and along with the rest of the gear, will augment the experience nicely. I recommend these versatile binoculars for any astronomer. Astro Joe

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love, love, love!! I received these binoculars with Solar filters in perfect condition. It was packed with care so it was kept safe in transport. They are light weight and very easy to use. I've already tested them out on the Sun several times, but I really am excited to use them during the Total Solar Eclipse here in Nebraska on August 21st. Your company was highly recommended by my son in California, who orders from you often. Thank you again!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Worth every penny! Thank you!! I went to see the eclipse by myself and brought these along. From the photo, the yellow filters made me assume they were probably cheap plastic binoculars - more like a toy. They are real! Well made and heavy, and worked awesome. There were two families near me that only had the paper type and I shared. They were totally impressed by how much more you could see. I'm so glad I purchased them. They made the day so much better. Oh, and I still have a pair of binoculars to use for other purposes. So cool. Came with a nice carry pouch and lens covers as well. Great buy.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Useful for viewing the sun I bought these for the upcoming solar total eclipse. I have tested them looking at the sun and also without the solar filters. Viewing the sun was comfortable and the image was sharp both with and without the filters.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from 10x50 EclipseView Binocular with Solar Filters I purchased these for the eclipse we had a few months ago. I went to Oregon as I had prime viewing there and they worked perfectly. I bought these as the filters can be removed so I could use the binoculars for other uses. They work great for what I can use so far.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Product!! I really like these binoculars! Great for looking at the sun and cannot wait until the solar eclipse happens. They offer a good, bright view and are easy to focus. I think I like their size the best as they really fit my hands well, and the IPD (Interpupillary distance) is the best fit for me of any binoculars I have owned. The only criticism I would give, and it is minimal, is that I wish there was a pouch or separate compartment in/on the case for the solar filters when they are not being used.
