The RPS Studio Quick-Folding Softbox Fluorescent Kit from Dot Line is a great general use setup for portraits, products or e-commerce. The kit contains two 20 x 20" softboxes with built-in lamp sockets and power cords that have convenient inline switches. The included 70W spiral fluorescent lamps have a digital-friendly color temperature of 5400K and together output the incandescent equivalent of 300W. For speedy operation, Dot Line has designed the softboxes with umbrella-like action that sets up and breaks down in seconds while allowing the lamps to stay in their sockets. The light fixtures are supported by two 6' light stands and it all fits in the included padded case with shoulder strap.

Been gathering appropriate equipment for self-taped screen auditions, and these certainly do the job. Very soft shadows, even distribution of light (no hot spots), very easy set up. These are not dimmable, which would have been my preference, but that costs extra. B & H suggests a sandbag or two per stand if you plan to set them at maximum height and I concur; could be a little top heavy. Definitely recommend these babies.

Any reviews on this? I'm interested in the positionability of the soft boxes. Also looking at Impact Soft and Natural Single Socket 2 Light Kit B&H # IMFFS1K MFR # FFS1-2KI, does anyone have a preference?

Unfortunately, there are no reviews on this kit just yet. The sofboxes are limited in their positioning with the stand adapter on the light which can tilt forward or backwards. Between this kit and the Impact Soft and Natural Single Socket 2 Light Kit B&H # IMFFS1K, the latter kit would be less expensive, but you would lose the folding feature of the former kit.
