The lens can be added onto 67mm threaded lens ports on underwater camera housings, and can be combined with an optional adapter for mounting onto threads of a different diameter. The narrow design of the mount's base makes it compatible with various other accessories, as well, including lens holders, mount converters, flip mounts, and quick-releases. Additionally, the UCL-09F features front 67mm threads, making it possible to stack optional extra macro lenses or add color-correction filters.
This macro lens contains 5 multi-layered elements arranged in 2 groups, allowing for clear images with corner-to-corner sharpness. A special coating on these elements minimizes reflections and flare from the sun or artificial light sources. Additionally, the glass is engineered to eliminate chromatic aberrations for higher color fidelity, which can be a challenge below the surface due to the water acting as a blue or green filter.
Built for durability, the body of the macro lens is made of an aluminum alloy that's been hard anodized to resist scratches and corrosion from seawater.
