AOC C4008VU8 overview

  • 1Description

With smaller bezels and a curved screen, the C4008VU8 40" 16:9 Curved LCD Monitor from AOC offers a more comfortable, immersive viewing experience. The curved display makes it easier to see the entire 16:9 display as it is designed to accommodate the curvature of the human eye. This 40" display also features a 3840 x 2160 UHD resolution offering up to four times the resolution of a 1920 x 1080 Full HD monitor.

If the large curved screen wasn't enough, this display also comes suited for color accurate tasks as it covers 85% of the NTSC Color Gamut along with a 10-bit color table supporting over 1.073 billion colors. In addition to enhanced color accuracy, users benefit from built-in flicker-free technology that nearly eliminates flicker from within the display to lessen the strain placed on your eyes.

Setting up the C4008VU8 40" Curved Monitor is simple as it comes with VGA, HDMI, and DisplayPort inputs to plug this display into a variety of computer configurations. Additionally, this AOC monitor comes equipped with four USB 3.0 ports, one of which supports fast charging for your smartphone, tablet, or other USB enabled device. Once configured, the display can be viewed from nearly any angle thanks to 178° horizontal and vertical viewing angles while the dual 5-watt speakers make for a complete multimedia viewing experience.

Ultra High Definition and High Pixel Density
AOC's C4008VU8 features a 40-inch non-glare VA panel complete with fast refresh capabilities. Ultra High Definition (UHD) allows users to see more on the screen at one time. A 4K (3840 x 2160) resolution is four times a Full HD (1920 x 1080) resolution.
10-Bit Colors
This monitor features a 10-bit panel boasting 1.073 billion colors. Frame-Rate-Control (FRC) technology is used to enhance the color depth of the panel and boosting the normal 16.7 million colors found in most displays, to 1.073 billion colors.
VA Panel for Wide Viewing Angles
This VA panel gives 178/178-degree viewing angles while maintaining consistent image quality and colors from all viewing positions. A VA panel has the color depth that results in incredible color accuracy. The screen itself has a matte anti-glare coating that won't leave fingerprints or smudges.
Immersive Visual Experience
Human eyes are not flat and perceive the world around us in angles and curves. Curved monitors deliver the improved viewable angles that allow users to see more. Aside from the appeal of an immersive gaming or work environment, there's a benefit in reduced eyestrain from a consistent radius between your eye and the display.
Flicker-Free Technology for Reduced Eye Fatigue
The normal LED-backlit monitors adjust brightness using PWM (Pulse Width Modulation). This causes flicker although human eyes can't see it easily, it still causes discomfort over long periods of time. Flicker-free technology is using DC (Direct Current) backlight system to provide more comfortable and healthy viewing.

    AOC C4008VU8 reviews

    C4008VU8 40" 16:9 Curved LCD Monitor is rated 5.0 out of 5 by 2.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great MONITOR, not a TV. I wanted to add to the sparse review situation on this monitor. I don't have time for a detailed review at the moment, but I have had nothing but positive results so far. I'm mostly using the AOC 40" over DP from a GTX680 in a classic Mac Pro 12 core. This is not a TV, it's a bona fide monitor with 2 DP ports and 1 HDMI 2.0 for 4k at 60Hz. The other HDMI port is 1.4 and limited to 30Hz, which I was amazed to find perfectly adequate for DAW or graphics work, with no sense of flicker. No idea about gaming, really, or if a 40" monitor is returnable under BH policy. I did run Crysis 3 for a few minutes just to see, and it didn't present any shortcomings. No burn-in issues or red blotching so far, either. The curvature is just right and makes the edges' lower contrast better. Lots of brilliance and contrast in reserve, strong color. The Toms Hardware review is very accurate and informative. Accessing the OSD menu is a pain if there's no active signal on the selected port. The PIP, PBP and 4 by options are there, but I can't see occluding 1/4 of the screen to host another desktop, or using two 1/4 screens side by side in PBP with huge wasted space above and below. A split into 2, vertically or horizontally, would make more sense. The stand is minimal, can't adjust height, or rotate. I had to take the casters off my desk to lower it. And add a cushion to the chair. Personally I find that 4K calls for a really big screen, especially in OsX because unlike Windows it won't let you scale fonts, so I'm sitting VERY close to my excellent 32" Benq 4K (that the AOC is not quite up to, e.g. in viewing angle range). This screen at 40" is just barely big enough, so I had to slip the legs under my 88 key MIDI controller to bring it closer. But the overall quality/price here is very good, the look and build quality are very pleasing, the monitor comes calibrated and ready to go, and the inclusion of a calibration sheet is very comforting.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fantastic! This is a fantastic monitor, albeit very expensive. The image quality is superb, and far exceeds the quality of standard, 1080p HD. The only caveat I have with this is that there was no included screw to hold the base to the monitor, but I contacted AOC on the matter, and not only did they respond very quickly, they shipped out the missing item the same day! Since I was taken care of so well by AOC, I don't see any reason to deduct any star, particularly since the performance of this monitor is perfect. This is my first curved monitor, so upon initial inspection, my first thought was 'wow, I expected the curve to be a bit more pronounced', but since it IS my first curved monitor, the curvature is probably quite normal, and I am just not used to seeing it. This monitor, therefore, gets my highest recommendation, provided you have the coin, as this is quite expensive. Are there cheaper ones out there? Probably so, but the trade-off may have been lesser quality construction, so in view of that, I think I would rather eat the cost to get better quality craftsmanship.
