Steiner's Tri-Band MCID Beacon is designed to give a tactical advantage by empowering personnel with covert signaling capabilities on three spectral bands: visible, NIR, and MWIR. It can be worn on helmets, MOLLE vests, and packs or attached to vehicles. For simultaneous or separate operation of the three groups of LEDs, the device offers a dedicated On switch for each spectral band. The LED emitters are specially arranged to generate a wide-angle (200°) omnidirectional beam of infrared light. It defaults to two flashes per second, but the rate is adjustable. The beacon is visible from up to five miles away on MWIR and eight miles on the NIR.
To withstand the rigors of the battlefield and other adverse conditions, the polymer housing is lightweight, durable, and waterproof (submersible to 33').
- 14 LED emitters generate flashing beacons
- 3 LEDs emit beacons in white light
- 3 LEDs emit beacons in NIR (0.88µm)
- 8 LEDs emit beacons in MWIR (3 - 5µm)
- 200° omnidirectional cone of light
- 3 dedicated On switches allow separate operation of three spectral bands
- Flash rate: 2 per second, adjustable
- Visibility distance: MWIR, approximately five miles; NIR, approximately eight miles
- Lightweight and durable polymer housing
- Mountable on helmets, MOLLE vests, packs, or vehicles
- Waterproof, submersible to 33' for 30 minutes
