    Canon EVF-DC2 reviews

EVF-DC2 Electronic Viewfinder (Black) is rated 4.9 out of 5 by 15.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from It is pricey but worh it I was looking for a lightweight easy to pack and carry backup camera for when I shoot travel. I took a risk in the new M6 and took it to Paris for a workout. I was excellent, easy to use flip viewer, nice simple lens, and most important a great file size. I have now processed the images in Lightroom and found that even the higher ISO images are acceptable. I also bought the add on viewfinder and it was perfect to shoot with and to avoid having to put on reading glasses all the time. (a bit pricey but worth it to me.) I am attaching some images that show various ISO's from 200 to 6400 so you can see the quality. But what you need to have is a RAW file to play with so I would suggest that you try to get one to see how nice the image quality is.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from More better The DC2 is an improvement over the DC1. It is smaller with a lower profile - not so conspicuous on top of the camera. Some complain about the lack of tilt, but I always used the screen if I was looking down. Personal preference. The screen has better contrast if you are using focus peaking for manual focus lenses - the main reason I use one. You may have to update the firmware on an M3.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent with an Important Note Today I received the EVF-DC2 and quickly hooked it up to my Canon G3X where it did not work. I was initially disappointed, but after looking at Canon's website I quickly determined the my firmware needed to be updated from v1.0 to v1.1, which provides support for the EVF-DC2. Once I updated the firmware viewfinder came to life. It has a beautiful OLED screen and displays everything on the viewfinder screen that you see on the camera LCD screen. What I really like about it is the sensor on it. The viewfinder knows when you put it up to your eye and automatically switches from the camera screen to the viewfinder. If you want to switch is manually, there is a button on the right side of the viewfinder to manually switch it over. Once last tip is both of the covers over the viewfinder contacts and the camera's flash contacts fit together to form a single item, so you can keep them together. If you take pictures in bright sunlight, this is a Must Have for your compatible camera. I'm very glad I made the purchase.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A needed accessory I purchased this viewfinder, because I was worried that during my vacation in Florida, I would not be able to see the LCD screen clearly with the bright sunlight. The viewfinder helped with this situation. Also, I was at Disney World and it helped to have the viewfinder to shoot in low light areas, where you don't want to distract others with your glowing large LCD on back of the camera. It was an expensive purchase, but well worth it for these special shooting situations. I would buy this viewfinder again, if I had to.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great addition to the G3X Excellent addition & is an essential add-on for using the G3X seriously - without it you can only really use half the camera's capability. Note you have to update the camera's firmware for the DC2 to be recognized & function - but that's an easy process; just go to the Canon website, download the update file, copy it to your memory card and then load it into the camera.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Canon EVF-DC2 EVF This is a great product & should be included as part of the M6 camera.Really helps in bright light when reading the live screen can become difficult. I like having the choice of the detachable function. Haven't taken too many photographs with it yet, but looking forward to using it. I would have given it 5 stars if it was part of the camera package.Service via phone at B & H was great, delivery was super quick, even to Canada !

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I Needed This! With trifocals, daytyme shooting with the M6 using just the screen was difficult Having large hands also didn't help. But, I wanted to experience mirror less without going wild. Now, with a little practice and this viewfinder, I can get the M6 to catch some decent exposures in all kinds of conditions. The combination of lens and viewfinder makes a worthy travel package along with a few M lenses, an EF adapter, & one long lens. I do miss the size of my DSLRs, but not the weight, so my guess is that this agin Canine-American has learned a new trick.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great add on to the M3 I love the Mirror-less Canon EOS M3 for quick outings where I do not want to cart the full blown DSLR rig and lenses. The only downside was shooting in bright light and not being able to see the LCD, also the years of looking through a viewfinder and not having it there. This works great and automatically shifts back and forth between the eye piece and the LCD enhancing the M3 experience.
