Axler Recodo Overview

The Axler Recodo Articulating Arm is a flexible 11" long arm that supports up to 6 pounds for attaching and positioning available accessories to your camera or accessory mounting point. It is machined from a metal alloy for strength and features three points of articulation that tighten and loosen using a single locking twist handle.

The ends of the arm feature 1/4"-20 threaded studs set into ball joints, with each joint providing swivel adjustment and lockable position adjustment. The threaded studs feature thumb wheels that allow you to tighten accessories on the threaded studs. The arm includes a removable shoe mount that attaches to your camera's accessory hot/cold shoe.

Cold Shoe Mount Adapter
The removable shoe mount adapter features a cold shoe foot to 1/4"-20 threaded stud, with two threaded thumbwheels that enable tightening the foot in your camera's cold shoe as well as your 1/4"-20 accessory. The cold shoe foot also features a female 1/4"-20 threaded mounting hole on the bottom, so you can mount it on a 1/4"20 threaded stud. Rounding out the shoe adapter is a 1/4"-20 coupler.
Single Knob Tightening
When the arm is loose, the center pivot, and both ball joint ends are flexible and can be moved to almost any position. Tightening the center twist lock tightens the center pivot as well as both ball ends at the same time.
Center Pivot
The center pivot features two facing rosettes that provide a secure friction source to prevent the arms from slipping.

Great length, well-built and strong arm

I'm impressed and happy with this articulating arm. I love the length that the 11 inches gives. This can be extended out but also collapsed tighter if you want. I love having that flexibility. I find it strong too. I mounted my 10.1 Elvid monitor on it and had no issues with the arm supporting that weight. It was rock steady. The specs on this arm say it can hold up to 6 lbs and I have no reason to doubt that. The joints of the arm have teeth so when tightened down it holds very well and feels secure. The teeth allow it to lock in place, all by tightening the single knob. Having the one knob tighten all the joints at once makes it super easy to work with. The build quality of this arm is great. All metal construction, even the knob is metal. This should last a long time. It comes with a 1/4-20 stud on the top, but also has a cold shoe with 1/4-20 female screw on the bottom. So, you can attach it to a cold shoe or any 1/4-20 male stud. I love having that flexibility. It can be used for all kinds of situations. As you can see from my uploaded pics, I used it for the previously mentioned monitor, but also works well with lights. I mounted my Genaray Mochi On-Camera Mini RGB light to it and love that I could place the light in a bunch of positions. And the 11 length of the arm allows it to be away from the camera a good distance. That's great. You can also use this arm mounted to a clamp with a 1/4 stud so you can place a light in tight places and use the arm for the perfect position/angle. I'm very happy with this articulating arm. It has great length, is well-made and can be used for a variety of reasons and for a variety of situations. [I have received this product in exchange for my honest review]
