Canon G9 X Mark II overview

  • 1Description

Comprising the essential components needed to begin shooting, the black Canon PowerShot G9 X Mark II Digital Camera with Free Accessory Kit from B&H bundles the advanced compact camera with a memory card and a protective camera case.

  • Canon PowerShot G9 X Mark II Digital Camera (Black)

A sleek, pocketable, and quite capable camera, the black PowerShot G9 X Mark II from Canon mixes a compact form factor with advanced imaging capabilities. Pairing a 20.1MP 1" CMOS sensor with a DIGIC 7 image processor, this combination produces clean, high-resolution image quality well-suited to working in difficult lighting conditions, with extended sensitivity to ISO 12800, and also avails quick shooting performance up to 8.2 fps for working with moving subjects. Full HD 1080p video recording is also supported, as well as in-camera time-lapse movies for producing dynamic moving image content. Complementing the imaging capabilities is a versatile 3x optical zoom lens, which covers a wide-angle to portrait-length 28-84mm equivalent focal length range, and Dynamic IS benefits this reach by minimizing the appearance of camera shake. The slim camera body also features a 3.0" touchscreen LCD for intuitive control as well as built-in Wi-Fi with NFC and Bluetooth for wirelessly transferring imagery and remotely controlling the camera from a mobile device.

20.1MP 1" CMOS Sensor and DIGIC 7 Processor
A large 20.1MP 1" High-Sensitivity BSI CMOS sensor and DIGIC 7 image processor combine to create the Canon HS SYSTEM, which offers an expanded sensitivity range up to ISO 12800 and enhanced low-light performance with reduced image noise to benefit working in difficult conditions. The sensor and processor pairing also avails quick performance throughout the camera system, including an 8.2 fps continuous shooting rate, quick autofocus with subject tracking, and Full HD 1080p video recording at 60 fps, and the large sensor size contributes to rich image quality that is well-suited to printing and sharing work.
3x Optical Zoom Lens and Image Stabilization
The versatile 3x optical zoom lens covers a wide-angle to portrait-length 28-84mm equivalent focal length range, and features an f/2-4.9 maximum aperture along with Intelligent IS and Dual Sensing IS image stabilization technologies to benefit handheld shooting in difficult lighting conditions. Additionally, Dynamic IS can also be used to help stabilize videos and minimize the appearance of shake when recording while walking.
    Body Design and Wireless Connectivity
    • For live view monitoring and image playback, a 3.0" 1.04m-dot LCD screen is available and features a touchscreen design for intuitive settings control and menu navigation.
    • Compact, pocket-sized form factor is ideal for carrying with you at all times.
    • Built-in Wi-Fi with NFC allows you to wirelessly transfer images to a linked mobile device and Bluetooth pairing allows you to easily connect to smartphones or tablets to permit remote control over the camera from your device using the Canon Camera Connect app.
    • The included NB-13L rechargeable lithium-ion battery provides approximately 235 shots per charge when working with the screen on, or approximately 315 shots per charge in ECO mode.
    Other Camera Features
    • Time-Lapse Movie functions let you record a series of stills over a set time period, then automatically merge and output the time-lapse as a video for seamless playback.
    • In-camera raw conversion lets you apply a range of creative adjustments to your raw files, such as Auto Light Optimizer and Picture Style adjustments, and then export them as edited JPEGs directly from the camera.
    • Picture Style effects allow you to creatively refine the look of imagery in-camera while shooting; these modes include Auto, Standard, Portrait, Landscape, Fine Detail, Neutral, Faithful, Monochrome, and three User Defined settings.

Canon G9 X Mark II reviews

PowerShot G9 X Mark II Digital Camera with Free Accessory Kit (Black) is rated 4.7 out of 5 by 46.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from The Best Pocket Sized Camera This camera is used primarily as a backup when traveling, especially by air. I usually shoot with a 5D Mark III, a 1DX, a 6D or a 7D Mark II and carry an SL-1 as a backup. But when baggage limitations are a factor, I will carry one of the full size DSLRs and the G9X II as a backup. I purchased it to replace a Canon S100 which worked well for several years but doesn't have the image quality the G9X Mark II is capable of. the G9X II is loaded with features and works well in several automatic modes but also allows full manual control for the serious photographer. Considering the size, weight and price, this camera is a spectacular performer.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from All in all, the best 1-inch sensosr camera I have used. An excellent 1 inch sensor camera. I bought it because it has few buttons on the back right side of the camera to accidently press...I have fairly large hands. It is much better than most small cameras in this respect, but is not infallible by any means. I have tried ALL the 1 inch sensor cameras and this is the first one I am keeping. Excellent image quality and typical Canon menus which makes it easy to navigate. Also, the touch screen is excellent in its touch.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Tiny power pack Love this--they pared down the encyclopedia of functions found on bigger semi-professional cameras to the funnest and most usable. Fits a niche, literally and figuratively, as it is so tiny and easy to keep anywhere. Some nice scene modes etc, but can take great photos if you use as like a conventional camera equipped with good features. No snags except at the moment impossible to sync it with my PC to operate wireless; have to connect via cable to download images. Could be the computer . . . ? Wireless works fine on Ipad and on ZTE phone. Info on correcting this is hard to find; Canon provided a good how-to when I contacted them but to no avail. Common frustration apparently, many hits when queried on the net, many suggestions . . . Small but ergonomic and pleasant to use. Love this and having lots of fun, kicked out a couple good shots just playing with it for a day or two.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The perfect point and shoot and take everywhere camera If you want a pocket size camera that takes amazingly crisp and perfectly exposed images I strongly suggest you purchase the G9 Mark II. I am a long time Canon customer and trust their expertise is designing a dependable camera with the best software on the market and one that you will love to shoot perfect photos. Although small in size it has many of the features of the large SLR's but without the weight and bulk. I will no longer miss taking a great photo opportunity because I left the big camera home. It's my take everywhere camera. Plus B&H is the only place to buy if you want the best advice by professional photographers who know their products.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great point & shoot camera I’ve had this camera for a few months and like it more every time I use it. I go walking a lot and prefer a small, light camera rather my heavier gear. Pictures turn out really sharp with good colors. It’s also great in low light, which is an important feature for me. If there was anything I could improve on it, a longer zoom would be it...but it’s difficult to have everything in one camera. This one is close though, and I don’t regret purchasing it! I love the retro look too!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A great camera for my daily shot This camera is quite good for the price. It has very convenient features like the Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connectivity that allows me to upload the photos I am interested to share right-o-way. Photo quality is very good considering the size of the sensor. I like the possibility to work in manual mode, the touch screen is very convenient in order to adjust any of the parameters I need in order to create my own composition.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The G9X Mark II is great for any photography enthusiast. I am an advanced amateur photographer and longtime Canon user. The Canon G9X Mark II is a small, lightweight, compact camera that produces very sharp images. I purchased this camera as an upgrade to the original Canon G9X. The G9X Mark II fits inside my pocket or on a belt loop case. Therefore, this point & shoot camera has the convenience of a a smartphone, produces photos superior to that of a smartphone, but eliminates all battery drain on my smartphone from taking photos. However, I do wish that Canon would have included an internal GPS with the camera body. I suppose it is not included due to substantial battery drain for GPS systems. The most important comment I have to say is that I find it comforting to know that purchasing any Canon product will always provide the user with top notch technical support if needed!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very good camera for digiscoping. Excellent camera, excellent images. I use this for digiscoping. I use a 49mm MagFilter attachment. The 52mm MagFilter attachment is too big for the zooming element. The 49 mm attachment - the external diameter of the ring - does not extend beyond the edge of the camera's zoom lens. I use a 49-to-52 mm step up ring adapter to fit my spotting scope's digital camera attachments. The 1 CCD and speed of the camera, along with aperature priority and shutter priority allows my to get good, non-fuzzy pictures.
