    Within the Z Series, the Z840 Series Rackable Minitower Workstation from HP delivers extreme performance in a rackable minitower form factor. Designed for professional virtual reality applications, the Z840 has been built for those who require high reliability and is well suited for tasks such as intensive graphics, 3D rendering, multimedia, and gaming, as well as science and engineering applications. The system is powered by dual 3.5 GHz Intel Xeon E5-2637 v4 processors armed with four cores on each CPU, for a total of eight cores. There is also 15MB of Intel Smart Cache per processor, for a total of 30MB. These processors, cores, and cache will allow you to run multiple applications simultaneously and provide significant performance gains when running multi-threaded tasks. If you need more power, the CPU can deliver extra performance by increasing the clock speed up to 3.7 GHz utilizing Intel's Turbo Boost 2.0 technology.

    The 32GB of 2400 MHz DDR4 ECC Registered RAM allows the computer to run multiple applications simultaneously and also to quickly access frequently-used files and programs. This Z840 is able to support sixteen 288-pin DIMM slots and the current 32GB memory configuration is made up of eight 4GB modules, which can be upgraded to up to 128GB per slot for a total of 2TB of RAM. As this RAM features ECC technology, it is able to help detect and correct the most common kinds of internal data corruption. This RAM is also registered, and registered memory modules, also known as buffered memory modules, place less electrical load on the memory controller and allow single systems to remain stable with more memory modules than they would have otherwise.

    For long-term storage of your files, this system is equipped with a 256GB SATA III 2.5" SSD, as well as dual 512GB M.2 PCIe SSDs, each of which allows quick access to your data and provides a combined storage amount of 1.280TB. While these SSDs may not have the larger storage capacity of a traditional spinning disk, they contain no moving parts, which helps them to be more resistant against bumps, drops, and other kinds of damage. SSDs also receive less wear and tear than traditional hard drives, as there are no read and write heads. Additionally, as two of these SSDs connect via PCIe as compared to SATA, they are able to operate with even greater data transfer speeds.

    If you want to add external storage drives or other peripherals, the Z840 features eight USB 3.0 ports, two USB 2.0 ports, one serial port, and two PS/2 ports. For users who wish to add additional components to the drive bays, the Z840 features four internal 3.5" drive bays and two external 5.25" drive bays. The dedicated NVIDIA Quadro M6000 graphics card has 24GB of GDDR5 RAM and delivers a sharp, clear picture while allowing for multiple simultaneous displays to be used via its four DisplayPort 1.2a ports and single Dual Link DVI-I port at resolutions up to 4096 x 2160 @ 60 Hz. Whether you are listening to music, watching a movie, or playing a game, the integrated IDT 92HD94 audio controller outputs high-definition audio and delivers higher fidelity than standard audio controllers.

    The Z840 Series Rackable Minitower Workstation is powered by an 1125W power supply and includes a USB keyboard, a USB mouse, and a power cord. The installed operating system is Windows 10 Professional (64-bit).
