SHAPE FS72RH Reviews

Good overall, but went with Shape's other FS7M2 handle

Over all this is is well made, solid, and does what it is supposed to do. An advantage of this version is it will work with either the FS7 or FS7M2 without disassembling the Sony handle. However, found I prefer the alternate Shape handle extensions sold by B&H that are specific to either the mark 1 or mark 2. These do require some disassemble of the Sony extension handle to then fit with the Shape extension. The reason for my preference is the ergonomics of grasping the handle and pressing in the button. My aging hands found it easier to grasp the handle and press the button in on the model-specific version. On all versions I wish the bolt that attaches to the camera was slightly longer--gives about 3/4 turn before seating. I removed the washer to get it up to at least a full turn. The black parts appear to be plastic, but it's really good tough stuff as plastic goes. Another steel rosette to interface with the camera would be nice. The final trade off for me is that it offsets the handle a bit to the right, which I find slightly less comfortable and a tighter fit in a coffin case. The trade offs are worth it to me for the ease of the push button adjustment vs. twisting the lock-down levers.
