Key Features
  • 0 to 80 dB Gain Range
  • Hand-Wired with Carnhill Transformers
  • HF: 16 dB with Five Shelving Frequencies
  • LF: 16 dB with Five Shelving Frequencies
The 500-Series BAE 1066DL Mic/Line Preamp Module is completely hand-wired using Carnhill (St. Ives) transformers and has the same mic-line preamp as the 1073 with the exception that the unit adds a few new frequencies to the pallet.

Quite suitable for tracking and mixing guitars—amongst other elements of a mix—the 1066DL offers up to 80 dB of gain and ±16 dB selectable high frequency shelving at 10, 12, 16, and 24 kHz. It also provides ±16 dB shelving at selectable frequencies of 35, 60, 110, and 220 Hz.

The midrange is especially useful, as it offers extended center-frequency over BAE's similar 1073, giving you ±16 dB peaking at selectable center frequencies of 700 Hz, 1.2, 2.4, 3, and 7 kHz. An 18 dB/octave high-pass filter can be switched between 45, 70, 160, and 360 Hz.

BAE Audio 1066DL Overview

The module also provides 48V phantom power for microphones, selectable impedances, and a button to put the module into line mode, where, in conjunction with a second 1066DL, the unit can be useful for processing sonic elements within a mix—or even the entire mix itself. Rounding out the controls are an EQ button and a 180° phase button.
