This Base Plate for Leica M9 and M9-P from Really Right Stuff is an Arca-type compatible dovetail base, which adds a quick release function to the camera. Furthermore, just like Leica's original base plate, the replacement base features the same type of tool-free locking latch that turns to attach and remove the base from the camera, allowing access to the battery and the memory card.
Type II black anodizing has been applied to the CNC machined 6061-T6 aluminum. The anodizing has given the base plate a smooth surface, which is resistant to scuffs, scratches, and corrosion. In addition, the plate has laser-engraved center mark on the back for alignment on a head. The base plate is also part of a modular system that accepts a separate vertical L-component and an optional grip for the hand.
