Chimera Pro II Overview

The large Chimera PRO II Softbox is designed for use with a strobe. With fabric not intended for the heat of a continuous light, the PRO II comes standard with a white interior and a flush front face. It is quick to set up and break down.

The flush-mounted front face provides a wider spread of light than a box with a recessed front.

This is the largest softbox in the PRO II line, and because of its white interior and largest size, will produce the softest light of any softbox in the entire lineup. It collapses to a compact size since each pole is sectional.

Required speed (mounting) rings are available separately for many manufacturers' strobes.
Several boxes may be ganged together end-to-end for a seamless light source.

Chimera Pro II Reviews

Soft spot for this Chimera Pro II Softbox

Perfect replacement for one I purchased over 20 years ago. The softbox itself comes in a very convenient pouch. Assembles in minutes ... just like a box kite. Works really well with my studio lights. Highly recommend!

Prefer it over the Super Pro X Plus

For my purposes I actually prefer these least expensive Chimera softboxes because the front diffusion panel is flush to the edges.  The black rim created by the recessed panels of the Super Pros just make things more difficult for me shooting products and food.  They also transmit almost two stops more light from the same head without the baffle installed and a stop more with the baffle installed, even though they are all white inside.  Theyre simpler to assemble also, with the front diffuser permanently attached.

The Godox S2 Speedlite Bracket for Bowens, B&H # GOS2, and the Impact Speed Ring for Impact, Bowens S, Westcott & Aputure, B&H # IMSRIMPV2, would allow you to connect the Chimera Pro II Softbox for Flash Only (Small, 24 x 32") to the Godox V1 Flash for Canon and the Godox AD200 TTL Pocket Flash.

question

Are there any grid type accessories for this softbox? I like that the front is one piece but it looks like adding a grid may be hard with no recessed edge. Even feathering is hard to achieve.
Asked by: Viktor M.
Of course there is no grid! It's a softbox, not a hardbox.
