    Garmin Dash Cam 55 Reviews

Dash Cam 55 with LCD Display & Voice Control is rated 3.2 out of 5 by 13.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from I really like this a lot. I was looking for a dash cam. The garmin is super small. The power was easy to run. And since my outlets are powered at all times, I never turn the camera on/off. Only issue Ive found, is it gets hot in the summer sun and will power down. Over all I like a lot. Easy to transfer video files via wifi. Voice control is great. If im driving down the road and I see something I want to record (even though its always recording) i just say ok garmin, save video). It's will save a slice of video 1 min before I said it and a min after.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Reliable, flexible and easy to use dashcam Dashcam is a nice to have device for many drivers, and may become a must have only after something happened. This is the third dashcam I have had. Comparing with the other two, there are some very nice unique features, and some features I wish it has built-in as default. Nice features: Runs well, this is a must. Flexible mount angle and position. The mount base with adhisive sticks on the windshild very securely that I may not be able to remove it at all. However the megnet that attatches the mount handle of the device allows you to rotate a small angel to adjust the position with about 1cm horrizontally. Very nice. Voice commands allows me to take a photo, save a video, start or stop voice recording, so I don't have to remomber the menu and touch the buttons while driving. Again very nice. Good video quality, this is a must. Good colour, this is very important. Approvements needed (IMHO): It does not have CPL to reduce the reflection. Voice command may be a little bit too sensitive. It got activated by random conversations and radio a few times. It keeps recording while at red light stops, that is a waste of storage - maybe just me. It doesn't record X,Y and Z acceleration. It gets hot when recording using HDR mode. It display the warning text Everytime when powered up - is that necessary?

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Good but not great! The quality of the video is great! This is the reason I bought the camera. However, I'm disappointed the battery doesn't last longer, this camera gets HOT! This is not good in Texas if you forget to turn it off during the summer! It comes with this 8' cord that you are supposed to plug in to a 12v adapter and hide around the edge of your windshield which I find so 1980's! Garmin does hardware great but their software and other attention to detail is terrible. Their interface app is also TERRIBLE which is typical for garmin. Would I buy it again...probably not.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from This dash cam and B&H service not ready for prime time Power supply lead that comes with unit plugs into cigarette adaptor. Well great except there is always power there and you must manually turn cam off or it will will record to the end of time ( or until your battery runs out of power) The app you load on your phone or tablet is almost totally useless. Wrote B&H an email about the mount 2 weeks ago. Still waiting for a response. Cheap plastic. It makes all kinds of sounds even with all the warnings turned off. Good idea not up to speed.
