Optoma Technology GT1080DARBEE overview

  • 1Description

Project a big-screen image in close quarters with the Optoma GT1080Darbee Full HD DLP Home Theater Projector. Its short 0.49:1 throw ratio will allow it to project up to a 303.2" image from only 11' from the screen or wall. It has a native resolution of 1920 x 1080 to display Full HD images, and a 28,000:1 dynamic contrast ratio to enhance the clarity of dark areas of images. The 3000 lumens of brightness will overcome ambient light in many in-home settings. When paired with compatible 3D glasses, this projector also supports many 3D formats from a variety of sources.

The GT1080Darbee has two HDMI inputs, one of which is MHL-compatible for wired mirroring of your compatible smartphone or tablet. Two 10-Watt speakers are built-in for audio playback, as is a 3.5mm audio output to connect it to your external speaker system. The projector includes a backlit IR remote control for added convenience.

Short Throw
With a short-throw lens, this projector can produce large screen sizes from a short distance, allowing you to get a 100" image with the projector placed just over a yard away from the screen or wall.
Darbee Visual Presence Technology
Darbee's Visual Presence technology is designed to enhance the image quality of what you watch, from Blu-ray discs to video games, with embedded stereoscopic depth information from a human-vision-based model. The image processing is adjustable, giving you the flexibility to customize the visual enhancement to suit your taste.
Augmented Colors
The GT1080Darbee is designed to provide reliable performance suitable for nearly any content and environment. It can reproduce the Rec. 709 color gamut, the international HDTV standard for accurate reproduction of cinematic color as the director intended.
Enhanced Color Wheel
The color wheel in the GT1080Darbee, combined with built-in color technology, is fashioned to deliver vivid images with enhanced color accuracy.
Full 3D
The GT1080Darbee can display true 3D content from almost any 3D source, including 3D Blu-ray players, 3D broadcasting, and compatible game consoles. Support for 144 Hz rapid refresh rate helps provide a smooth, flicker-free image.
Dynamic Black Technology
Dynamic Black technology is designed to add more depth to your image by smoothly adjusting the lamp output, based on the brightness information of each frame, to effectively provide a higher contrast ratio. Bright scenes appear crisp and clear, while dark scenes remain detailed with deep blacks and enhanced light and shade detail.
Enhanced Gaming
Enhanced gaming optimizes your projector for response times as low as 16 ms.
Integrated Speaker
Complete your home entertainment experience with the convenience of a built-in speaker. It is designed to make the projector easy to set up without the need for costly external speakers.
MHL Connectivity
Turn your projector into a smart display by connecting your smartphone or tablet with a single cable using MHL. This will allow you to view presentations and documents, stream videos, and share photos from your compatible device on the big screen.
Many movies are shot at 24 frames per second (fps). To preserve the purity of the original image, the GT1080Darbee can accept high-definition sources at 24 fps to display movies as the director intended.
ISF Modes
ISF modes allow you to save your calibrated day and night mode settings.
Designed for Long Lamp Life
The lamp in the GT1080Darbee is estimated to last up to 8000 hours in Dynamic Mode; so, if you watch a two-hour movie every day, the lamp should last for almost nine years.
USB Power
Use the USB power output to power an HDMI dongle, such as Google Chromecast.
Quick Resume
The Quick Resume feature allows the projector to be instantly powered on again if it is accidentally switched off.
Auto Power Off
There may be instances when the projector is left running when not in use. To help save energy, the "Auto Power Off" feature automatically turns the projector off after a preset period if not being used.
Wireless Ready
Stream 1080p 3D content to your projector wirelessly with the optional WHD200, which is sold separately.

    Optoma Technology GT1080DARBEE reviews

GT1080Darbee Full HD DLP Home Theater Projector is rated 4.6 out of 5 by 18.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Awesome Projector, Beyond Expectations I've done a lot of research before finally deciding on this projector. We wanted something with at least 1080p native resolution and short throw. This one meets both expectations. It can also play 3D movies, which is a plus, but we haven't tried. The picture is very clear at 120" from over 12 feet away, we can read the ending credits without issues. The 4K projectors we reviewed did not provide any better pictures, some actually were worse. The unit is also very quiet. The only question left is how long it can last. We are using eco mode so hopefully it'll last 6-8,000 hours. Overall, this projector exceeded our expectations. Highly recommended.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Easy set up and a great Home theater experience We bought this about a month ago for our home theater/game room. Decided to go with a short throw projector for a quick set up and the ability to use outside by the pool during special occasions. We are pleased with the picture quality and refresh rate as describe. What a treat playing Xbox on a super size screen. It was tough trying to decide on which projector to purchase but after a fair amount of research, the Optoma brand seemed to be the best choice. I'll update my review after a year of use....

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Optoma GT1080 Darbee Short Throw Projector I am really enjoying watching movies now with this projector even during the day. No need for total darkness. I only wish that it has at least 2 Usb ports so I don't need to buy Usb splitter to power the fan, bluetooth audio transmitter and the wireless Hdmi extender. And also, the delivery was quick. Thank you.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect Fit for the Small Living Room Place this GT1080Darbee in my small living room and it works great! Now just project onto a wall without a screen but already loving the feeling of watching a movie. Haven't played with the Darbee function a lot yet. But the difference is significant, I guess the darbee is something like adding a lot contrasts to strength the details. Need to play more to see if I like it eventually. Highly recommended if you have a small room and think TV isn't large enough. I think this also has a strong performance in gaming because of the 16ms low latency. Given the price, this machine is a winner!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fantastic, bright clean image. I am completely blown away by this projector -- I was expecting something larger and was very surprise by how much smaller it is and lighter. Image is spectacular and huge; all of this is projected at a very short distance. I am also very happy Optoma decided to include a travel bag with no extra charge. I tried some fast moving images and they are all crystal clear, so I don't anticipate any problems with any gaming or sports viewing. A clear winner, and a nice upgrade over the original GT1080 (more lumens at 3000 vs 2800 in the older version).

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very Bright and Clear I was surprised how bright and clear the image is even on a 110 inch screen. I can hear the fan, but I don't consider it to be excessively noisy for a projector. I don't notice it at all during TV and movie watching. The setup menu is easy to use, and there is a test grid feature that makes it easy to adjust the position of the projector while mounting it. I am very happy with the purchase.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Highly impressed with this projector Very much impressed with its excellent pic quality. Short throw is a very effective for easy & mobile operation from room to another room. Only odd thing is its Lens cover. you have big chances to scratches the lens while every time you open & close the cover. Unlike other projector have a very good shutter system. Optoma should realize this. Technically it is a very good projector.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Mind blown! Exceptional projector... This baby rocks. The image quality projected onto just a wall with a king size sheet stapled to it is absolutely incredible. Pushing about a 120 image at a 16.9 ratio seems HUGE, can't imagine how it's going to look when my outdoor DIY at 200 is completed! Does it make some noise? Yes, it's audible but not distracting, if there is audio or dialog running you can't hear it. How's the 3d? Well, at first I was not impressed. The media used can make all the difference as well as the ambient light. I realized for the 3d to really pop it needs to be very dark, it just doesn't do too well with a fair amount of ambient light creeping in and some 3d media works better than others. Crysis 2 in 3d on a PS3 in total darkness blew my mind....absolutely STUNNING! Do you get a perfect 4.3/1.1/16.9 with the short throw? No, there is some aberration but nothing that some black felt screen border wouldn't rectify. How's the Darbee Vision? Exceptional in every way and a $200 upgrade in and of itself. Add in the 3000 lumens and 28k contrast and it's a no brainer to buy this over the original GT1080i, you get a lot of bang for your buck for around $100 more than the outgoing model. All in all I couldn't be more satisfied, well, at least until I get the opportunity to project it at 200 on a 1.0 gain true projection screen....
