Key Features
  • For Night Scenes and Astrophotography
  • Blocks Yellow Light Pollution at Night
  • Blocks Sodium-Vapor, Mercury-Vapor Light
  • Blocks Light from Low CRI LED's
The 100 x 100mm Natural Night Light Pollution Filter from NiSi is an essential tool for night scenes and astrophotography. Light pollution occurs in areas of the night sky that are above or near concentrated and intense sources of artificial light such as cities. This filter corrects color distortion caused by undesirable wavelengths of light that pollute the night sky caused by mercury vapor, sodium, low CRI streetlights, and more. The glow from these sources can keep a camera from rendering the sky properly and impact your astrophotography and night images. Natural Night Filters block the most common wavelengths of light pollution by blocking the yellow light frequencies to render neutral, natural tones.

Made of high-quality, precision annealed, finely-ground and polished optical glass, this filter features NiSi's unique NANO Coating technology. This multilayered coating reduces reflection on the surface of the filter to help with ghosting and flare. There is also a resistance coating that protects against scratches and abrasions while making it easy to wipe off water, dust, and oil.

This 100 x 100mm filter is compatible with the NiSi 100mm filter system and other filter holders that accept filters measuring 100mm wide and 2mm thick.

  • Reduces the appearance of night sky light pollution in images with illumination from artificial light sources
  • Blocks yellow light from sodium-vapor lamps, mercury-vapor lamps, or low Color Rendering Index LEDs
  • Enhances the visibility of astronomical objects with less glare and improved contrast
  • Approximately 1-stop light reduction
  • Optical glass construction Nano coating for increased light transmission and reduced glare Resistance coating makes it easy to wipe off water, dust, and oil, and adds protection from scratches and abrasions

NiSi Natural Night Filter Reviews

Was not effective for me

I tried this while photographing M101 and I found that it didn’t make any noticeable difference in the final image. I’ve been told that utility lighting in cities today is mostly LED lighting which has a wide spectrum and so the light pollution filters don’t have any positive effect. Aside from that, the filter is very high quality and there is absolutely nothing wrong with its contraction or packaging. It just wasn’t effective cutting out the light pollution that I have. I’m in Cedar Park which is a northern suburb of Austin, TX.

great results

For use with astrophotography and golden and blue hour photos works great the difference is really superb. It brings out detail that is not very visible without using one.

I have the LEE Filters LEE100 Filter Holder, it is posible to use it with this filter?
Asked by: Mariana
I measured my NiSi natural night filter and it's 2 mm thick (and 100 mm H x W), so yes it will work with the LEE 100 nicely. I have a Lee foundation kit (Lee FK) which is designed for 4 mm thick filters, so I had to "shim" the NiSi to prevent it from falling out. It will fit your LEE 100 much better.

how do I know what to choose? 100x100 or 150mmx150 or 180x180mm? I don't have a holder yet either, so want to get everything to fit my 62mm ring lens and my 67mm lens ring
Asked by: Lori
You purchase threaded adapters to fit the holder on to each lens. Then use the same holder and filters in it. I think the 100x100 is the most universal unless you have very large lenses.
