Intel BOXNUC7I5BNH overview

  • 1Description

The Intel NUC7i5BNH Mini PC NUC Kit sports a 7th-generation 2.2 GHz Intel Core i5-7260U dual-core processor as well as the ability of accommodating up to two storage drives and up to 32GB of memory modules, letting you build a compact system with the performance to handle mid-level applications. The NUC7i5BNH comes with two SODIMM slots that can hold up to 32GB of DDR4 2133 MHz memory chips. For internal storage, it is armed with two storage options, allowing you to install an ultra-fast M.2 SSD along with a high-capacity 2.5" hard drive. It has a drive bay for holding 2.5" SSDs and HDDs up to 9.5mm tall as well as an M.2 slot that can accept SATA- or PCIe-based SSDs with a length of up to 80mm. Once an optional storage drive is mounted, you will need to install an operating system such as Windows 10 or Linux. Furthermore, Intel has designed this NUC with a compact form factor so you can mount it behind a VESA-compatible monitor with an included mounting bracket, letting you maximize desktop space.

The Intel Core i5-7260U processor features two cores that operate at a stock speed of 2.2 GHz for handling everyday apps. For demanding software programs, each of the cores can run at speeds of up to 3.4 GHz. In addition to the speeds, the Intel Core i5-7260U processor is equipped with 4MB of cache memory and has a thermal design power of 15W.

Intel's NUC7i5BNH Mini PC NUC kit utilizes an onboard Intel HD Graphics 640 chipset that delivers up to 4K visuals to your monitors utilizing a built-in HDMI 2.0 port as well as a Thunderbolt 3 port that offers daisy-chaining capabilities with up to six devices, including monitors, external storages, and external graphics cards. The Thunderbolt 3 connection transmits data at a rate of up to 40 Gb/s and utilizes a reversible USB Type-C design, letting you connect with USB-C or Thunderbolt 3 cable the first try. To complete the multimedia experience, 7.1-channel surround sound is provided through the video connections and a combo headphone/microphone jack. Other notable connections include four USB 3.0 ports for a keyboard, mouse, printer, and external storage drive. If you need more USB ports, there's a USB 2.0 header to support an optional adapter with two USB 2.0 ports. Aside from wired connections, Bluetooth 4.2 is on board so the system can wirelessly connect to speakers, mice, and other Bluetooth-enable devices.

On the exterior, the NUC is outfitted a built-in microphone along with a multi-colored LED ring, so you can personalize it with a color you want. There's also an integrated card slot for reading and writing to microSDXC memory cards. For accessing networks, the NUC7i5BNH is equipped with a Gigabit Ethernet port and 802.11ac Wi-Fi. In addition, Intel includes an external 65W wall-mountable power adapter for powering the NUC.

    Intel BOXNUC7I5BNH reviews

NUC7i5BNH Mini PC NUC Kit is rated 4.8 out of 5 by 14.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Works with bitlocker, support NVME M.2 (NUC7i5BNH) So far the experience has been great with this NUC, but I have only been using it for few weeks and with very low demanding application. The intel PPT technology on this NUC is recognized as a TPM from Windows 10 PRO, and I had no issues in encrypting this drive I also assembled it with a Samsung 960 EVO NVME M.2 and benchmark from samsung magician shows 3,000MB/s read 1,000MB/s write speed (and no, there was no noticeable difference between and after encrypting the drive). It takes more time to load the UEFI/BIOS than to start windows 10...

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Nice box with good performance. Have had for a a few weeks now and all works as expected. Windows 10 Enterprise went on without a hitch - although I may switch back to Windows 10 Pro and set up a dual boot with a linux distro. The machine is quick with the Samsung 960 M2 EVO 512GB drive, 16 gig ddr4 ram - but havent really stressed it much yet. Will primarily be used for some image processing and development work. Perfectly quiet and a very small footprint. Slowly working my way out of my large case systems.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Easy assembly Added Samsung m.2 nvme drive, Crucial memory and W10. All drivers and excellent instructions available on Intel website. Quiet machine. Have not used thunderbolt yet but should provide great expansion possibility. Has slot for 2.5 inch sata.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Small But Mighty!!! PROS: - Very compact, small footprint on the desk. - Great middle-of-the-road CPU (i5) - Room for 2.5" SSD or HDD and M.2 2280 SSD - RAM expandable up 32gb CONS: - Heat "may" be an issue; since all the components are so close together ... but I have not had any issues with heat so far. - Wires/Cables ... you still have to consider and factor in all the wires/cables you have to hook up to it; ... i.e., Monitor, Sound, External Drives; can be quite the cable management challenge. SUMMARY: It is amazing for your basic computer needs. Not really for any graphic intensive applications; but for basic daily computing needs such as checking emails, online banking/shopping, YouTube videos ... this definitely can handle it. Highly recommend it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from My second NUC7 hackintosh I did a NUC7 i3 hackintosh for a friend during this past summer. This one was for myself. I installed High Sierra on this i5 NUC7 and it too worked out great. I haven't tested the Thunderbolt 3 port with the Mac OS yet. The built-in soldered wireless and bluetoothcard doesn't work on the MacOS/Hackintosh side of things but I use the wired ethernet.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Pricey but nice Having become disgruntled with consumer routers/firewalls, I constructed my own using this as a base. I was looking for optimal performance for the energy usage and a small footprint and this was the best I found--at a relatively high cost. Aside from its being pricey, the only other drawback is the lack of a second NIC. Overall, I'm pleased. Installed hardware: * 2x8GiBG.SKILL Ripjaws RAM (F4-2400C16D-16GRS) * Samsung EVO 850 GB SSD *SYBA SY-ADA24029 USB NIC

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Replaces a klunker I got tired of that old huge enclosure, under my desk and all the cables that went with it. The NUC really solves this problem. I used the Intel supplied adaptor plate and mounted the NUC behind the monitor. Although the old generation i7 Chip , is being replaced by the latest generation i5 CPU, the new setup seems faster; probably because I now use a solid state drive for my system software. Goodbye desktops, hello small power efficient computing.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from affordable but powerful The system is very compact in size, easily place anywhere without any problem. The system is very powerful easily handle day to day task with some advanced performance. It supports 4k with HDR content only thing is that non-hdr contents are washout. The system is very silent, I hardly hear any noise from system, you must update to latest drivers to take that effect.
