Intel BOXNUC7I7BNH overview

  • 1Description

The Intel NUC7i7BNH Mini PC NUC Kit sports a 7th-generation 3.5 GHz Intel Core i7-7567U dual-core processor as well as the ability of accommodating up to two storage drives and up to 32GB of memory modules, letting you build a compact system with the performance to handle demanding applications. The NUC7i7BNH comes with two SODIMM slots that can hold up to 32GB of DDR4 2133 MHz memory chips. For internal storage, it is armed with two storage options, allowing you to install an ultra-fast M.2 SSD along with a high-capacity 2.5" hard drive. It has a drive bay for holding 2.5" SSDs and HDDs up to 9.5mm tall as well as an M.2 slot that can accept SATA- or PCIe-based SSDs with a length of up to 80mm. Once an optional storage drive is mounted, you will need to install an operating system such as Windows 10 or Linux. Furthermore, Intel has designed this NUC with a compact form factor so you can mount it behind a VESA-compatible monitor with an included mounting bracket, letting you maximize desktop space.

The Intel Core i7-7567U processor features two cores that operate at a stock speed of 3.5 GHz for handling everyday apps. For demanding software programs, each of the cores can run at speeds of up to 4.0 GHz. In addition to the speeds, the Intel Core i7-7567U processor is equipped with 4MB of cache memory and has a thermal design power of 28W.

Intel's NUC7i7BNH Mini PC NUC kit utilizes an onboard Intel HD Graphics 650 chipset that delivers up to 4K visuals to your monitors utilizing a built-in HDMI 2.0 port as well as a Thunderbolt 3 port that offers daisy-chaining capabilities with up to six devices, including monitors, external storages, and external graphics cards. The Thunderbolt 3 connection transmits data at a rate of up to 40 Gb/s and utilizes a reversible USB Type-C design, letting you connect with USB-C or Thunderbolt 3 cable the first try. To complete the multimedia experience, 7.1-channel surround sound is provided through the video connections and a combo headphone/microphone jack. Other notable connections include four USB 3.0 ports for a keyboard, mouse, printer, and external storage drive. If you need more USB ports, there's a USB 2.0 header to support an optional adapter with two USB 2.0 ports. Aside from wired connections, Bluetooth 4.2 is on board so the system can wirelessly connect to speakers, mice, and other Bluetooth-enable devices.

On the exterior, the NUC is outfitted a built-in microphone along with a multi-colored LED ring, so you can personalize it with a color you want. There's also an integrated card slot for reading and writing to microSDXC memory cards. For accessing networks, the NUC7i7BNH is equipped with a Gigabit Ethernet port and 802.11ac Wi-Fi. In addition, Intel includes an external 65W wall-mountable power adapter for powering the NUC.

    Intel BOXNUC7I7BNH reviews

NUC7i7BNH Mini PC NUC Kit is rated 4.3 out of 5 by 8.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from It is a good product but noisy. It is a good product. However, we recommend NUC7i5BNH with cost performance and quietness.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from A bit noisy Good powerful mini PC which I've used as a Plex Media Player. However it's a little noisy at times.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from A powerful tiny computer that has some flaws This latest version of Intel's NUC is something of a mixed bag: Pros: TINY! It's smaller than a typical club sandwich! Decent Ports, 4 USB 3.0, HDMI and USB-C as well as a somewhat pointless Micro-SD card slot Fast. If you add quality components like 32GB ram and a M.2 drive, you can get some blistering speeds. Windows 10 opens in less than 10 seconds from a cold start even with lots of software startups. Lightroom works really well on this machine. It hibernates in a few seconds compared to my last i7 machine that usually took over a minute to shut down. It opens easily and has room for a 2.5 drive as well as the M.2 slot. It took less than 5 minutes to add the 2 drives and memory. The graphics and sound are actually pretty good. I am not much of a gamer, but it does handle the huge RAW files from my DSLR well and hasn't had a problem with 2 displays. The sound is definitely better than any other desktop I've had. Seems pretty compatible. With Windows 10, I have been able to install and use some old software like Adobe Acrobat Pro 9 without running into issues with hardware drivers. This was an issue on the last machine I had. It looks nice with the blue light front and chrome accents. Comes with hardware to mount on the back of a monitor Cons: FRAGILE!! One of the front USB ports broke on the second use, the second unit was DOA. I'm on my 3rd unit now (bought locally due to possible need to exchange again.) The fan gets really loud. This is one of the loudest units I've ever owned and even beats some of the desktops I had in the 90's. All the drivers need updating. The Sound, display, SD card, LAN and WiFi all had issues until I updated drivers. I had to really manually search Intel's sight to find them too. No SATA slot for external SATA drives, no standard SD card slot (how much more room would that have really have taken?), only 1 HDMI port. 4 USB 3.0 ports, but only 1 is powered. Only expandable to 32GB memory.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Can stream 4K from Netflix and Play 4K Blu Ray and HDR. This unit has the Intel Iris Plus Graphics Integrated Graphics Processor iGPU not the Intel HD 650 Graphics iGPU. You can stream Netflix 4K content and play 4K Blu Ray DVD's if you have the right player and a 4K monitor. It also supports HDR content if your monitor supports HDR. But, you do not need HDR to stream 4K content from Netflix or to play 4K Blu Ray. That saved me some money since my monitor supports 4K but not HDR. If you want HDR, I recommend waiting for an HDR 1000 monitor which will become available later this year.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from amazing product amazing product. So much in such a little package. But as a non computer type person, what made the NUC great was the help and advice from B&H.They should be very proud of their great staff.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from I would buy this product again Pro: Fast Small Con: Doesn't support larger hard drives - 4 TB for example because of the limited space. 15mm is too big. Give us a bit more space for these larger drives :)

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great Price , Quick Shipping B&H had the best price I could find. The shipping was very quick. It is a Xmas present for my son, so I have no idea if it is a good product other than my son wanted it as a gift. Mike
