Elinchrom ELB 1200 Action Flash Head
Key Features
  • For Use w/ ELB 1200 Battery Powered Pack
  • 1/8850 Sec Flash Duration at 172Ws
  • 4,000 Lumen LED Daylight Modeling Lamp
  • Accepts 7 or 8 mm Umbrella Shafts
The ELB 1200 Action Flash Head from Elinchrom is one of 3 flash heads redesigned for use with the ELB 1200 battery-powered pack. Made for speed, the Action head has a short action-freezing flash duration of 1/8850 with the power pack set at 172Ws. Featuring aluminum construction, the head conserves battery power with the use of a 50 W LED modeling light with a tungsten equivalent of 250 W. The lamp is daylight balanced with a high CRI of 92 allowing it to be used for video if desired. The lamp gets 80 minutes of run time with the standard ELB 1200 battery. The fan-cooled head has a Silent Video Mode for sound-sensitive venues. Modeling light settings include On, Free (user-selectable) Proportional (to selected power level), Dimming and a 1-60 second Timer. A VFC (Visual Flash Control) shuts down the light after exposure and turns it back on when the pack has recycled. The ELB 1200 Action Flash Head has a 5/8" receiver for light stands and will accept both 7 and 8 mm umbrella shafts.

Can you buy and additional light to go with this kit or do i have to buy a separate box and light to have 2 lights?
Asked by: Erika
As the Elinchrom ELB 1200 Power Pack has two (2) outlets on the top of the unit for strobe head usage, you may use up to two (2) strobe heads simultaneously on a single Elinchrom ELB 1200 Power Pack. If you plan to use more than two (2) strobe heads, you would then have to purchase an additional Elinchrom ELB 1200 Power Pack.

For the ELB 1200 HS Head, what exactly does flash ...

For the ELB 1200 HS Head, what exactly does flash duration "Optimized for HS up to 1/8000 sec" mean? For the Quadra HS head, they stated it at 1/550 at t0.5.
Asked by: Ken
Depending on the camera and remote you can take the shutter up to 1/8000 with the ELB. HSS allows for fast shutters for controlling the ambient light. The older HS heads are for short flash duration. The length of the flash duration, the shorter the better, allows for you to freeze action.

question

Hi, What are the differences between 'Hi-Sync' Vs 'Pro' flash heads ?
Asked by: Chulanga
It's flash duration. The Hi-Sync heads have a longer flash duration which provides a greater window for the shutter to synchronize at higher speeds.

question

Can old Ranger Rx Heads (e.g. A and S) be used with the new 1200?
Asked by: Noel Truitt
Hi,Unfortunately old Ranger heads cannot be used with the ELB 1200. Due to technology changes such as having a LED modeling lamp and the head cable connector changes, old heads are not compatible. If you have an old head and pack please consider looking at the Elinchrom trade-in plan as product is now shipping.I hope this helps.Regards,Will H
