Is there anything special about these cables? ie will a normal TRS to BNC/XLR/LEMO etc cable work the same?

Tentacle Sync C04 cable is built to send the signal in one direction from a Tentacle Sync device into an XLR input. Here is a link to the Tentacle Sync page for it, with further details. https://tentaclesync.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/articles/115005320425-Pinouts-and-wiring-diagrams-for-Tentacle-cables

question

If I use this with a camera or recorder that has two stereo xlr inputs but records to only 2 channels (Such as a Sony FS100), will I be able to use the other XLR input for the second channel, or does Tentacle sync record timecode to one track, and reference audio to the second?
Asked by: Isaac
To answer your question, yes. While it is true that the Tentacle transmits two channels, this adapter only connects to the channel that transmits the timecode. The schematic for this adapter (on the manufacturers site) clearly shows the timecode out of the Tentacle is connected to pin 2 of the XLR and both remaining XLR pins are connected to the ground.Besides, the way a standard XLR connector is wired allows it to only transmit the signal of one audio channel anyway, so only the timecode goes to one audio channel of your camera or recorder, and you can use the other XLR connector on your camera or recorder for any other audio you wish.
