Gitzo GK1555T overview

  • 1Description

Enjoy a lightweight, stable, and smooth support system with this GT1555T Series 1 Traveler Carbon Fiber Tripod with Center Ball Head Kit from Gitzo. The setup offers a 3.1 lb 5-section tripod system with an Arca-type compatible ball head, a load capacity of 22 lb, and a height range of 12 to 58.5". Also, thanks to a reverse-leg design, the addition of the ball head does not add to the folded length of 14".

  • GIGT1555T Traveler Series 1 Carbon Fiber Tripod

The Gitzo GIGT1555T Traveler Series 1 Carbon Fiber Tripod is a compact support system with legs that fold around the center column and optional head. These reverse-folding legs contribute to the tripod's folded length of just 14". It extends to 54.3" high and can hold up to 22 lb worth of gear. With the included short center column installed, the tripod can get down to 7.9" for macro or low-angle shooting.

The tripod employs Carbon eXact tubing for added strength and stiffness compared to the Carbon 6X tubes. Traveler G-lock is a pared-down version of Gitzo's G-lock, specifically designed for the Traveler tripods to reduce overall size. These legs feature space-saving feet that fit the Traveler series' compact design. A shoulder strap is included for easy carrying.

  • GH1382TQD Series 1 Traveler Center Ball Head

The Gitzo GH1382TQD Series 1 Traveler Center Ball Head is an Arca-type compatible head that is an ideal match for Traveler Series 0 and 1 tripods. It stands 4.1" high, holds up to 24 lb, and weighs 0.9 lb. The head has a separate lock for the 360° panning and another to control the movement of the ball. A tungsten disulfide coating on the ball helps keep the ball movement smooth and minimizes stick-slip. A screw-knob lock tightens down on the included quick-release plate and a bubble level helps you maintain straight horizons in your images.

Gitzo GK1555T reviews

GT1555T Series 1 Traveler Carbon Fiber Tripod with Center Ball Head is rated 4.6 out of 5 by 16.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from I Love It I bought this solely for travel purposes. I already have a bigger, heavier tripod I use for work and in the studio. But I needed something for vacation and hiking, when weight and size is a concern. I looked at other brand with more budget friendly prices, but in the end I decided to just go with the best, and have no regrets. This thing is rock solid, first day out, I did a 9 minute exposure with a 16 stop ND filter, about 5 minutes a gust of wind came and I thought it most likely ruined my exposure and would have to start again. To my surprise the image came out tack sharp! I feel like I gave up nothing in stability going with such a small model that folds up to 14''

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A superb travelling tripod I've had the tripod for a couple of weeks now and I'm very pleased with it. It meets all my requirements. It is very compact at just 35cm long when folded with the head, yet it takes a decent load of 22 lb (10 kg) and has an ideal maximum height of 47.6 (121 cm) without the column. With the head the actual shooting position is a 131 cm, so for me I only need to extend the column about an inch to shoot from almost eye level (I'm 5'10'') I use it with a nikon D810 and nikon professional glass and it takes it really well. The G locks make the set up of the tripod a breeze. The supplied head is brilliant but it takes some time to get used. On my Manfrotto you can feel the tension on the ball knob. With this head, the ball can be locked but the tension knob will still rotate quite smoothly which is a good thing in my opinion. I do a lot of long exposure work and found the tripod and head very stable. Craftsmanship is superb, specially the head which is beautifully engineered. I'm very please with this tripod. Due to its size and weight it is now a permanent fixture in my camera bag

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Lightweight, Small, Sturdy So I've now owned this tripod for a couple of months. Waited to write a review until I had tested it thoroughly because it's expensive, and I'm really picky. I can safely say that I love it. What do I use with it? Sony A7ii and either the Zeiss 21mm f/2.8 or the Sony 55mm f/1.8, plus a series of Lee filters. Specs on those are available, if you care to see what the total kit weight is. Know that this tripod handles it without even nearing its stress point. But what if I'm tall? I'm 6'2, and it would kill me if the Sony didn't have the screen that swivels, but it does, so the reduced height doesn't bother me in the least. If I had to look down the viewfinder every time I took a shot, though, my back would be broken. It is a sacrifice I made for the overall size, and because of the functions of my gear I definitely stand by it. But what if I'm doing long exposures? I've used this repeatedly, in high wind (25mph, 40mph gusts) to shoot 30 second exposures without even a mild bit of tripod shake discernible in Lightroom during editing. But should I get the slightly longer one with fewer leg sections? Meh. I didn't, and I do not regret my choice. In theory, the fewer sections, the sturdier the tripod. I think that's a safe assumption and continues to hold true, but this is well sturdy enough for my camera setup, so if you're using it with what I'm using, nope. If you want a small tripod, get a really small tripod. Otherwise, stop caring about size so much and get something cheaper. Doesn't it take longer to set up than the 4 section one? Yes, by about 4 seconds. So if that matters to you, this is simply not the tripod for you. If you grab all of the handy twist-locks at the same time and twist, the job is done in less than 20 seconds anyway. If I were using a full frame SLR body with some big 2.8 zooms, I might have problems with the weight, but for a mirrorless, even one of the larger ones like the A7 series, a heavier lens and filters, this is top of the line.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from LOVE this TRIPOD Love, love, love this tripod. Just did a shoot in Yosemite. It’s amazing. I thought I was going to break my back when the fed ex guy handed me the box. I had no idea it was this light. I was anticipating more weight. It’s pure Italian design. I can go anywhere. All I have to do is strap it to my photo backpack or hold it. It’s worth every penny. The Gitzo ball head is small but holds my complete Fuji Xt2 with full large lenses. Buy it. Don’t even think twice.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great traveling tripod This tripod is a huge improvement over the older series 1s. It is just as light, but much sturdier, and the included ball head is much better than the old one. Highly recommended for travel, including for use with DSLR and decent-sized lenses such as a 70-200 zoom.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Amazing Tripod Super compact, light wait but sturdy. Excellent for travel and sturdy enough for canon 70-200 f2.8 and long exosure photography.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Light weight and easy to use! I needed a light weight tripod for taking on trips and this fits the bill. Small and compact and easy to set up! The only thing I did not like was the price, but who is ever satisfied with that? I would recommend it!
