Perfect for reversing a cold shoe
For my camera rig’s top anchoring point, I needed to be able to slide a cold shoe foot onto the top of my camera the opposite way the built-in hot shoe mount on my camera allowed. I searched forever for a simple way to flip it around and finally found this adapter which allows just that: an extension of the cold shoe and getting to choose the slide direction. There may be more use cases I come across in the future, but at least now I can slide my camera into my rig and have it hard-attached to the top for extra stability and security. (I put together a custom universal rig for my Blackmagic Pocket Cinema Camera 4K and Lumix G85 cameras using various rods and cheese plates and whatnot, and the top cheese plate under my top handle has a slit style hole for an adjustable cold shoe foot to poke down and attach to the camera, and I put a manfrotto style sliding quick release plate on my base plate to more easily slide my cameras in and out and that qr plate needed sliding in the direction that didn’t work with my camera’s hot shoe mount). Anyways, tldr, my G85’s hot shoe was angled the opposite way I needed for sliding in and out of my rig and this adapter has perfectly fixed that issue.
not a cold shoe. and over priced. at least IMHO
I needed a cold shoe, not a hot shoe, to put a canon flash on a sony a7ii without the flash been triggered by the camera hot shoe (long story why, involves using a transmitter to fire the flash in ttl, which work fine when I hold the flash in my hand, but stops working once I connect the flash to the camera via this adapter, WHICH IS SUPPOSED to be a cold shoe, but in reality does pass on electricity and sets the flash to shoot in Manual mode). Bottom line, I have no idea what is the purpose of this adapter and why is it so expensive. I was going to return it, but since shipping will cost me more the $10 out of the $18 I paid for this, it makes no sense...
