How does this camera's image quality compare to the Canon PowerShot SX70?
Asked by: Kristina
I really liked my Canon PowerShot, but not sure if it was an SX70. I took some excellent shots with it. The Lumix DC-FZ80 takes very good picture, as well. Great resolution, nice ease of use and zoom works well. I used it for thousands of images traveling and beyond. I was very satisfied with its quality - a great point and shoot camera. Would recommend. In the end, I wore out both my PowerShot and Lumix and really liked them both!

Dust: Point-and-shoots with telescoping lenses ...

Dust: Point-and-shoots with telescoping lenses ingest dust. (1) Is the DC-FZ80 susceptible to dust ingestion like others in the Panasonic Lumix line? (2) Is the camera designed for user serviceability so that dust can be removed easily?
Asked by: Philip
Any telescoping lens is susceptible to dirt and dust. From the user manual; The camera is not dust resistant, splash resistant, or waterproof. Avoid using the camera in places with excessive dust or sand, or where water can come into contact with the camera. That said, my FZ80 has been used in various environments without problems. I have a FZ25 that started to “stick” after years of use. A can of air and a soft cleaning cloth put it back into service. To my knowledge there is no way to disassemble the lens, nor would I try to do so.
