Network Settings

I set this printer up in early December, 2020 and left a 5 star review on Jan 5, 2021. Not long after leaving the review in January, I could not print with my wireless connection. Could not check toner status. I was getting something like a printer is offline or unavailable message even though the printer itself indicated it was online. Using my wifi router interface, I checked the IP address of the printer. When I checked the address my computer was using I saw it was not the same. I was able to set the new address and now all is good again. I suspect there may have been a reassignment when I installed a wireless security camera. I know that I could go back to the router settings and reserve a specific address for the printer so it would not change in the future. Instead, I wrote down the steps to check the IP address of the printer and set it on my Windows 10 computer. How to find/set IP address with Windows 10: To find the IP address of the Canon printer/scanner, FROM THE PRINTER ITSELF: Menu System Management Settings Network Settings TCP/IP Settings IP Address Settings Check Settings IP Address Record this address. Now on your Windows 10 computer click on the following: Windows Start, Settings, Devices, Printers Click on the D570 and then click Manage button Then look at Printer Properties The IP address is in the Location box. I was able to just type in the new address. Probably just the last set of numbers. There are likely other ways to find the current IP address your printer is using, like printing out a report, but this worked for me. My toner cartridge is still at 100% after a couple of months of light printing and copying. I am still very pleased with this printer/scanner. Very handy unit and plenty fast enough for my household needs. I recommend, with reservations that you may need a little bit of technical ability to manage the wifi connection.

Horrible scanning software

The device itself is fine, but the software associated with it is atrocious. The page orientation setting doesn't actually work, there is no auto-detect page size that was included with the software for an older Canon scanner (lide 220), and a handful of other miscellaneous settings mentioned in the online manual aren't anywhere in the settings page.

Great All-In-One for Home or Small Business

My previous printers had been from another company, but with the advent of the intrusive requirements of this company's PLUS program (they know who they are), I could not tolerate a product of theirs I had just bought so I returned it in favor of this, my first Canon printer. If you read and follow the instructions in the Getting Started guide, you will have success with this printer. Someone spent a lot of time creating the instructions and manuals for your benefit, so I would recommend reading them. Switching between single- and double-sided printing was easy using Preferences in the printer's Properties in Windows. Also, I tested the printer in all three connection types (USB, Wired Ethernet, Wireless Ethernet) and all three connection types worked as expected. Entering the wireless network key through the control panel is much like texting on a flip phone, but it is workable. And the installation CD does not install bloat or software with nuisance notifications like some other printers; just the minimum needed, and you have control over what gets installed. That is PERFECT for someone like me who likes to keep their system clean. I am very happy with this choice and would recommended to any home user or small business needing an all-in-one printer/scanner/copier solution.

It is okay, print, copy and scan.

Like I said in the headline print, scan & copy, but that's after you figure out yourself how to set it up. The instruction manual is useless and if you want to use it wireless , do not bother trying with the Cd. If you want result set it up in the device, the income to see your toner level and pages does not work, wants you figure it out yourself, is not bad at all. B&H service is excellent regular shipment was in Miami in 3 days
