I needed this to get my AZ-EQ5 high enough that my refractor would be useable at a comfortable height in Alt/Az mode. This did the trick! It is very stable and raises it to just the right height. It is a f/7.5 5 APO refractor. The standard pier that comes with the mount just wasn't hight enough. I also highly recommend the AZ-EQ5 or 6 for use in AP and visual. It is really nice to have the ability to switch to Alt/Az mode for visual then go back to EQ mode for AP. I have both mounts. And for a mass produced mount they work really well plus you can use EQMOD with them.
This extension is well machined, the paint looks good, and all the hardware is included. It gave my pier the 6" increase in height it needed to bring the eyepiece on my refractor to a more usable level when at zenith. For the money, it was worth buying this option vs. making one of my own in my shop. Two thumbs up.
