Gefen EXT-UHD600 Overview

The 4K Ultra HD 600 MHz 4x1 HDMI Switcher from Gefen is a system that takes HDMI 2.0 up to 4K 60 Hz at 4:4:4 Chroma subsampling, along with HDR (High Dynamic Range) support. This system delivers Ultra HD and DCI/Cinema pictures up to 4096 x 2160 pixels at 60 fps without subsampling color. HDR allows subtle nuanced gradation of each pixel play out across the screen.

Supporting the digital rights management standard for Ultra HD content, HDCP 2.2, and the legacy HDCP 1.4, the EXT-UHD600-41 switcher can handle the signal routing needs for both existing and new components in commercial AV and residential systems. Multichannel digital audio including 7.1 channels of LPCM and HBR (High Bit Rate) digital audio formats such as Dolby Atmos, Dolby TrueHD, DTS:X, and DTS-HD Master Audio are also supported.

The 4x1 switcher includes control features such as a configurable Automatic Input Switching system. Automatic Input Switching selects the recent connected or powered-up source, therefore minimizing unnecessary end-user interaction. It also features control options including the front-panel, IR, RS-232, Telnet/UDP, and Gefen's intuitive web server interface.

Gefen's LRP (Long Reach Power) feature provides 5V at 500mA on pin 18 of the HDMI output. This current capability enables select extender devices to be powered through their HDMI input port without the need for an external power supply.

The switcher is designed to work with Gefen's Syner-G software suite. Initial IP configuration can be performed using the Gefen Syner-G's Discovery and Show-Me features. It features a low profile, compact, and surface-mountable enclosure that can fit in tight places. The small enclosure and the included IR Extender module allow this switcher to be hidden behind the display or in an equipment closet. This switcher also accommodates Gefen locking HDMI cables for secure connections.

GEFEN does not provide a clear explanation of this product. As we understood it can't be used to control video wall - It, only splits video signal in order to show similar images on all 4 TV screens.

Works as expected

I have a receiver setup of 5.1.4 Atmos. What will happen to the audio signal when passing through this device on a movie that contains atmos. I noticed that the device only supports 7.1.?
Asked by: RP
This supports up to 7.1 channels, which would tend to mean it will support lower options as well. It should work fine with the Atmos you have.
