Wooden Camera UFF-1 overview

  • 1Description

Wooden Camera's UFF-1 Universal Follow Focus is designed to fit on any of the three major rod standards, 15mm LWS, 15mm studio, and 19mm studio without rod adapters. The UFF-1 achieves this through movable rod clamps that lock into marked positions along the follow focus' bridge. The swinging arm allows lenses of multiple sizes to be used, and provides extra reach for using with the studio rod standards. Drive gears can be mounted to either side of the arm, and the arm itself can be mounted to either side of the gear drive.

The base version of the UFF-1 comes with one handwheel for single-sided operation. Two marking disks are included for ACs to mark focus points. For DSLR lenses or for operators who prefer it, a hard-stop disk is also included with movable hard stops along the circumference. The center of the handwheel holds an ARRI-standard accessory port for whips, cranks, or other focus pulling accessories.

Five focus drive gears are included. 0.5 and 0.6 MOD gears for driving Canon and Fujinon ENG lenses, respectively, as well as small and large-diameter 0.8 MOD gears for driving standard cinema lenses. For DSLR lenses that are not geared, a friction gear is included. The UFF-1 and all included accessories come packaged inside custom-cut foam that can fit in a separately available Pelican 1500 hard case, for protection during storage and transport.

    Wooden Camera UFF-1 reviews

UFF-1 Universal Follow Focus (Base) is rated 3.0 out of 5 by 2.
Rated 3 out of 5 by from Solid follow. Altough with Backlashing I have been using this follow focus for 2 months. Very nice, solid. Works in all rods. I am disappointed with the backlash. It has a little bit of backlashing. I send and email to wooden camera, and they send me a tutorial to get less backlash. Altough it didnt change nothing. I was seing this follow and the Bright tangerine. I think i will have to try the bright tangerine to compare it. I just hope it didn’t have this backlashing problem its a great follow focus only with this problem.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from works almost 100% as expected. this is a good solid follow Focus. Very similar to the Tilta. only issue I have with it is that when using it on 15mm rods, the clamps are almost fully extended when tightening. So if you have any force or vibration on the camera the follow Focus will loosen and move. There just isn't enough purchase on the clamps on 15 mil rods. 19 mm, works great.
