Flying drones in their natural outdoor environment requires a bright display, like the DJI CrystalSky 5.5" High-Brightness Monitor for unhindered daylight viewing. The 1000 cd/m² bright touchscreen LCD screen is daylight viewable without requiring a hood. More than a monitor specifically designed for DJI products, the CrystalSky runs an Android OS and only comes loaded with the apps necessary for operating DJI devices. You won't find any spam applications to slow the device down. Plus, the hardware is optimized for decoding video transmitted by DJI devices, reducing lag and improving picture quality. Aside from the streamlined interface, the CrystalSky acts as a mobile device with all the necessary DJI apps pre-loaded.

Note: The CrystalSky includes one Intelligent Battery and a two-bay charging dock that requires a separately available charger. Chargers from the Inspire (1/2) and Phantom (3/4) will work. 57W Osmo and Phantom chargers don't supply enough power to charge both the batteries and other devices simultaneoulsy. The Mavic Pro charger is not compatible.

Smooth Video Monitoring
The CrystalSky monitor uses optimized video decoding to decode video in real-time. Due to limitations in software access on smartphones and tablets, the video decoding abilities of other smart devices might be less than ideal. When used to view photos or videos transmitted by the camera, problems can occur including video jitter, unacceptably long latency, and more. The CrystalSky monitor's optimized decoder provides smooth, real-time video feedback from compatible drones with minimal latency.
Dual microSD Card Recording
Load up microSD cards to expand the CrystalSky's storage. Video can be recorded in H.264 or H.265 formats. With the ability to play back and edit 4K recorded video inside the CrystalSky, you can quickly share high-quality edited footage. Video can also be played back through the onboard HDMI output.
I/O and Network Connectivity
The CrystalSky monitor's HDMI port allows up to 4K video to be output to FPV goggles and other display devices. Built-in dual band Wi-Fi means it can connect to Wi-Fi networks and Wi-Fi hotspots from mobile devices, and it is also compatible with 4G dongles and USB storage through its USB Type-A port.

When connected to the Internet, the CrystalSky monitor gets easy access to system upgrades, livestreaming, photo or video sharing, data synchronization, and more. File sizes are optimized as much as possible to minimize mobile data demands.

Onboard micro-USB and USB Type-C ports make it convenient to connect the CrystalSky monitor with a remote controller or other devices.

    CrystalSky 5.5" High-Brightness Monitor is rated 3.6 out of 5 by 14.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love it! Awesome monitor, I can see everything now in the sunlight and I'm able to dial in my colors, focus, and aperture with ease. The only thing that really bothered me a lot that it didn't come with a charging cord. DJI assumes you have Phantom or Aspire and you can just you use that charge, I have a Mavic that that charger is not compatible so I went and had to buy a certain type of Osmo charge that had the same connection as the monitor. Also, does not come with a cable that goes from the monitor to the controller so I needed to buy a USB to USB C Type cable which can be found in Cell phone accessories cause the new phones use this USB C type connections now. Another thing I cant figure out how to record to the SD cards going to have see what the deal with that is. Overall though great monitor makes my life a lot easier now.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great little monitor I'm using the CrystalSky with my Mavic, mounted on a Mavmount. The entire setup is very compact and perfect for travel. I considered getting the larger CrystalSky monitor, but in the end, decided that the smaller monitor was easier for travel. After all, that was the point of me getting the Mavic in the first place (I used to travel with an Inspire 1, and that was a separate piece of luggage itself). I'm not a professional, and use my drone for vacation travel and fun. The monitor is A LOT brighter than any tablet or phone I've used (nvidia shield, samsung 10, galaxy S8). It's not thin, however if you have the right mounting platform, it is solid and robust. There are dedicated buttons on the side, along with 2 programmable buttons (I set them for max brightness, and screenshot), which are very handy. The monitor takes about 15 seconds to start up, and boots to a dedicated DJI menu (OS runs on android). I can use it in full sunlight without a sunshade. The screen is also matte, and doesn't have a reflection like regular tablets/cell phones. If you happen to be standing in the shade, the monitor is even better. I use the monitor mostly for framing/composing my shots, and not for looking at small details. So the smaller 5.5 version works for me. No regrets purchasing this monitor.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from OVERHEAT Im user of one 7.85" Ultrabright and one 5.5". The smaller i made the update of the software and after that I start to recive some notifications in CHINESE... some time after that i made a research in internet and found that means a overheat in the screen. Some time after i bought the UltraBright ($1000) and dont made the update of the software... guess what? Start to overheat. NOBODY of DJI is telling us whats happen... i have $1600 in two screens and i cant use this! Sorry DJI, but i think you must to work better in your products before start release more and more and more.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Nice screen but lacks many features that it claims to have Its okay, but could be way better. DJI definitely overstates its features. I've used mine with both the Inspire 2, Osmo, and Osmo Pro enough to give it a well thought out review. The PROS: It's much better than the ipad/iphone in direct sun and the touch screen works well. I was also really impressed with the battery life. The mounting and quick release is also pretty solid. Image quality is comparable to an iOS device when you use it with the drone, and it's a little better than an iOS device when you use the osmo. The CONS: When I power down my drone or my osmo, the crystalsky freezes most of the time and either requires battery removal to reset or you can wait it out and sometimes it will unfreeze itself again. It's terrible at playing back footage from either drone or osmo while in use, if it works at all. It also takes way longer to download photos to the monitor when compared to an ios device. I've never gotten strong wireless interference warning when using an ipad, but I've gotten it plenty of times using the crystalsky (and I even make sure to turn the wifi off when I fly). Another side note to that, I'm flying in a lot of the same locations I've flown using an ipad so I do believe it's something to do with the crystalsky. To be fair, I have not lost control of my drone or crashed so that's good, but the warnings are still concerning. The crystalsky has two micro sd card slots, they will not play back 4k footage and thats all I shoot, so basically they don't do anything except hold cards. My biggest disappointment with the crystalsky is that it doesn't support a wired connection to the Osmo Pro. I bought the crystalsky/osmo mount and the wired video adapter assuming that they would work, but they just don't work. You can still use wifi. But my hope was that with a crystalsky and wired connection I'd be able to turn on my Osmo Pro and monitor and be recording footage within a matter of a few seconds. Not the case. I think it actually takes more time get up and running w crystalsky than it does with an ios device. And of course as previously mentioned, the monitor will freeze up all together if you don't turn it off completely before swapping batteries. I called DJI tech support about the wired connection to osmo and they didn't have any answer for me. It's my suspicion that they just never tested it at all. Last con I can think of is that there is no DJI GS Pro app for crystal sky.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from For drone pilots the CrystalSky display is the ultimate See exactly what the drone camera sees in HD (720p?) even in bright sunlight with no display hood, and with virtually no lag time. This is a real game-changer for getting the exact shot that you want. It's a little pricey but, all things considered, worth every penny. I got the small version (5.5), and for the way I fly and take video, I would have no need for the larger versions. I use it for my DJI Mavic Pro. You may need to purchase a 3rd party display mount since at this time DJI does not have one for the Mavic controller. You will never regret purchasing this display!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from buy it if you have the money, buy it. The mount and this product make flying in bright Florida sun possible. Some reviewers want to go back to ipad or phone??? i do not think they fly in bright sun conditions. This product is not perfect, but it works extremely well for my phantom3 4K There was such a vision issue with the iPhone display in full sun I did not fly anytime I could not find shade. if you have a better product than my phantom 3 4K, definitely go with the jumbo monitor. Apparently my phantom 3 4K doesn't work with the bigger screen

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Doesn't work I bought this for use with my Osmo Pro. The directions to connect it are an absolute joke, and theres almost ZERO info on DJI website. After connecting it, it would never recognize the camera and the screen would just stay black. I contacted DJIs terrible customer support and they had me update the X5 firmware, still nothing. great that this item is not returnable. DJI is garbage
