This handle feels great in the hand with the wood insert and looks slick. I shoot a lot of ski footage and the wood grip is awesome - even with gloves, holding onto an aluminum rail all day gets really cold. The double push button on the EVF mount is also critical. Quick to shift position and holds well enough to support the weight of the rig. After reading some of the comments, I decided to go with the Shape batteries - the top plate doesnโt get in the way as it does with bigger batteries
It is solidly built and very high quality, but if you're using a typical V-mount battery (like Sony, IDX, Swit, Blue Shape, Lanparte), the rear portion of the handle prevents you from putting a battery on the camera. Some low-profile batteries (Anton Bauer Cine batteries, Dracast, etc) clear it, but mine did not, so this is unfortunately not usable.
I finally decided on an aftermarket solution for the F5's poorly designed viewfinder cable attachment. As a bonus, I got a better than expected handle and viewfinder mount that can be adjusted to much more comfortable positions. The Shape viewfinder mount allows you to position it along the top of the handle so that you can position the viewfinder for interviews as well as handheld. The multiple 1/4-20 holes in the plate are handy for mounting a monitor on an arm or my shotgun mic mount. The only problem I've encountered is detaching the viewfinder from the camera. The guard makes it difficult to get my large fingers in the slots to release the cable. I would rather have that problem than risk breaking the camera port, it has been bullet proof so far.
