Is there any native way to divide the main compartment, or will multiple stands be tangled together?
They'll be tangled together. I believe there are two separate zippered compartments though, meant for let's say three stands in each. Zipper opens around the top, not along the side. I returned mine, didn't like the zipper location & strength/thickness of the fabric, I was looking for more heavy duty, this I'd call light duty, especially the inner barrier, very thin. B&H is a great place to buy, phone reps are very helpful, explain them what you'd like to have in a bag. What are you trying to bag?

The Auray MSB-6 Microphone/Speaker Stand Bag would not be recommended for holding iron stand bases. It is meant primarily to hold tripod-style microphone stands.
