The Zgrip Trigger for Sony FS7 from Zacuto relocates your FS7's original Sony handgrip to a more ergonomic operating position, reducing operator fatigue. The Zgrip adjusts up to 6" for a total length of 11", setting your grip at a comfortable distance from the camera. No need to remove the camera from your shoulder when adjusting the Zgrip's angle; a push button enables you to rotate the Zgrip a full 360° with one hand. This grip attaches to your camera body or rig via an integrated ARRI-type (M6) rosette.

Zacuto Z-ZG-7T Reviews
Cumbersome compared to the competition
I bought both this extension and the one made by Shape to compare them together. While the Zacuto wins in the length department (about 2 inches longer in extension), I find the push button design of the Shape unit to be easier and simpler to use. The tension of the release latch for swinging the the arm requires much more force to push than the release button of the Shape. The Zacuto's 360 rotation for comfort might come in handy, but I didn't find it to be that critical to have. My biggest gripe with the Zacuto is that the sliding action of my FS7 handle was very sticky inside. I even sanded down the finish on the contact areas of my FS7's handle and it still didn't help much. Maybe I just have bad luck with the fit and finish of the handle that came with my FS7, but it slides perfectly smoothly on the Shape unit and not so much using the Zacuto. Another huge complaint I have with the Zacuto extension is the design of how the FS7 handle is meant to stay in place. The Shape extender has a screw that serves the dual purpose of loosening / tightening the handle for extending / retracting AND keeping the handle from falling out of the extender. The Zacuto does NOT have a fail safe design for keeping the handle inside the extender. If you make the mistake of loosening the extending / retracting screw more than 2 turns, the FS7 handle will fall out of the extender !!!
Try before you buy!
This only works with a particular Zacuto baseplate. It is deceivingly easy to mistake it, you will need the rosette additional piece for it to fit. As the rosette screw does not go in all the way. That being said I didn't try to screw it into my FS7 camera body, but that wouldn't work as well. Its a great addition to the kit and will probably save your rosette.
