Intended for electric guitar players, the Radial Engineering Regency is a pedal, which emphasizes the gain stage of your amplifier, working particularly well with high-gain amplifiers and smaller, tube-driven amps. It sports two independent circuits, which can be used separately or together to add punch, grit, sustain, a multitude of chained effects, and more.
The Class-A Power Boost circuit is a 100% discrete signal path delivering up to 23 dB of gain. Uses for this circuit include introducing a volume jump for solos, or hitting the front-end of a smaller, tube or tube-emulating amplifier to kick it into a premature and pleasant harmonic breakup. With an included effects loop, the Boost circuit also lets you introduce external effects into the signal path. If you always want a delay and a chorus to come on with your power boost, simply route them into the send and return jacks, turn them on, and when you step on the Boost footswitch, these pre-setup effects will be right there waiting for you.
The Pre-Drive circuit, on the other hand, is quite useful in pushing high-gain amplifiers even further, thereby achieving sustain and harmonics. This provides controls for drive, tone, output level, and low mid-range timbre sculpting. Use these circuits independently via dedicated footswitches, or step on both at the same time to kick your amplifier into extremely high gear. The pedal runs on 9 VDC power either from your pedalboard or from a separately available power supply.
LEVEL Knob: This knob is used to set the output volume level for the Pre-Drive section.
TONE Knob: This brightens or darkens the Pre-Drive circuit to best suit your needs.
DRIVE Knob: This sets the amount of distortion in the Pre-Drive circuit from subtly gritty to full-on overdrive.
LOW-MID Toggleswitch: This three-position switch is used to tailor the bottom-end frequencies of the Pre-Drive circuit and is switchable between OFF, MIN (a minimal amount) and MAX (more than a minimal amount).
BOOST Footswitch: This activates booth the Boost circuit and the associated effects loop.
DRIVE Footswitch: This switch is used to activate the Pre-Drive circuit.
