Opticron Oregon 4 8x25 Overview

Designed for casual users but built to high standards, the 8x25 Oregon 4 LE WP Binoculars from Opticron are suited to travel, backyard wildlife viewing, sporting events, festivals, and general use. Slim and compact, they feature fully multi-coated lenses and BAK4 roof prisms, which combine to optimize light transmission for a crisp image.

The 8x magnification provides plenty of detail at distance, but avoids the shaky image experienced with higher-powered optics. Complementing the optical performance is a broad 357' field of view, enhancing vistas and making it easier to track your target. Thanks to the long 16mm eye relief, you can enjoy the full field of view even wearing glasses. Three-stop twist-type rubber eyecups further accommodate eyewear and enhance your glassing comfort. The single-hinge closed bridge permits one-hand operation, and the large center focus wheel is tactile and easy to operate. Designed for durability in the field, the Oregon 4 LE's rubber-armored housing is nitrogen-filled and O-ring sealed for waterproof and fog-proof performance in all conditions. Included with the binoculars are two tethered objective lens covers, a rainguard for the ocular lenses, a strap, and a soft case.

Opticron Oregon 4 8x25 Reviews

Good compact binocular

This Opticron 8 x 25 may be as much an instrument as the average casual user needs. I purchased it as a back up to far more expensive Zeiss 8X 30 SFL, for use when viewing is not as critical or in areas where theft might be a risk. As well, I have two pair of10 X 25 double hinge binoculars, but I prefer the single hinge which allows a larger focus wheel. Getting the strap onto the binocular pro problematic so I ended up with a simple knot. Mechanically optically they seem better than a subsequently purchased 7 x 21 of a different make, which I think I will return. There is a Zeiss 8 x 25 single hinge compact at 10 X the price which I’m sure is better but for most users not necessary.

Reasonable value

Optics and construction are good. Purchasers should be aware the twist-up eyecups may not rise far enough for some users that don't need eyeglasses. Twist down is good for eyeglass wearers. The ocular rain-guard is not supplied with a tether.
