Embed audio into 3G/HD/SD-SDI sources in up to 1080p60 resolution with the Audio to SDI Mini Converter from Blackmagic Design. Connect up to four channels of balanced analog or eight channels of AES/EBU audio via four 1/4" jacks.

In addition to a dedicated SDI input, the converter also features a redundant SDI input that allows you to run a backup cable in case the first is lost. This is useful in mission-critical applications, especially outdoors or in crowded venues where there is a higher chance of damage to the cable.

    Rated 5 out of 5 by from Doesn't Get Easier Than This We recently upgraded our church video system to HD. New cameras, switcher, projectors, network and displays We needed a way to embed audio from our main audio console into the network which feeds 20 displays in rooms and lobby locations. This little box was the problem solver. Took it out of the box, plugged it in between the switcher output and the first splitter, and we had clean audio at all locations. I did have to call Blackmagic support regarding DIP switch settings. All the diagrams show the switches in the UP position for ON and in the DOWN position for OFF. However, the actual DIP switch is the reverse of that. However, in our case, we didn't have to make any switch settings, it worked out of the box.

    Rated 5 out of 5 by from It works! This product works right out of the box, exactly as described. We use this when connecting a couple of cameras and a laptop to a switcher. The audio feed goes into the Blackmagic converter, and the output of the video switcher goes into the converter as well. In this configuration the Blackmagic passes the switched video and the incoming audio. It works well. One little gripe: the underneath side of the converter shows the dip switch selection, but the actual dip switches on the side are upside down from the selection diagram. But it does work! Excellent price for such a problem-solver!

    Rated 4 out of 5 by from Nice box, poor documentation We have a camera with HD-SDI output, and want to record it together with audio from our digital console to an AJA Ki Pro Mini. Because the Ki Pro Mini has no independent digital audio input (one can use the digital audio embedded in a video stream, if available) and because its analog audio inputs are both poor quality and very difficult to calibrate, a box such as this one became necessary.I'm happy to say that this little box works PERFECTLY. We have an HD-SDI input, add stereo audio to it via one of the AES/EBU inputs, and output HD-SDI with audio embedded. There is no synchronization to worry about. The video looks the same, but the difference in the sound quality is dramatically much better.The lack of documentation with this box made setup trickier than it needed to be. Here's some info which may help:- AES/EBU inputs are on 1/4 TRS connectors. That's not easy to see in the photos. The same connectors may be used as either balanced analog or AES/EBU, depending on the configuration of the dip switches.- The dip switches are not clearly marked as far as what's On or Off. Look a bit underneath the edge of the metal box surrounding the switches, however, and you can see On written in there. Once that's clear, it's simple enough to configure.- If you've not worked much with AES/EBU, please note that you should use 110 Ohm cables. The connectors are ordinary (we use Neutrik), but the cables are not the same as those used for connecting microphones.

    Rated 1 out of 5 by from Disappointed We bought the PTZ Optics 20x SDI camera and we were told several times that these devices would work together, but they didn't work well together at all. We were later told that it had to be a SMPTE signal. Maybe a good product, but seems like it is picky about what video signal it will accept.

    Rated 5 out of 5 by from perfect solution I use this small converter unit to feed in a separate live audio mix to a live video mix with 3 or more cameras connected over HD/SDI. The perfect solution. The Audio to SDI unit gets quit hot, so i hope it won't fry. So far so good. This is the best way of extracting embedded audio from SDI and ad a wanted audio source, embedded to SDI.
