The Denon Design Series DCD-50 Compact Hi-Fi CD Player features a slot-in CD drive ready for regular audio CDs and CD-R/CD-RW discs with MP3 and WMA audio tracks. For optimum audio quality with external amplifiers like the separately available PMA-50 stereo amplifier, the DCD-50 player is equipped with a coaxial digital audio output (cable included). For connection to other audio components that do not have a digital coaxial input, the player features a D/A conversion block with 32-bit / 192 kHz D/A converter that delivers wide dynamic range, along with extremely low noise and distortion.
The player's OLED display shows the CD's total tracks and total time, as well as the track number, track time, song title, artist name, and album name (depending on the disc), along with icons for random mode, repeat one/repeat all modes, and a folder icon for data discs. The display automatically rotates to match the installation orientation. The dimmer function features three levels of display brightness, adjustable via the remote control. When paired with the PMA-50 amplifier, you can adjust the display brightness of both units at the same time. The supplied remote control features an ergonomically-designed layout that includes a cursor keypad, number keypad, and dedicated function buttons such as random, repeat, info, and program.
The player is housed in a compact chassis that features soft aluminum matte with bright silver tone accents along with glossy and matte black surfaces. It can be placed horizontally or vertically. You can easily remove the four feet at the bottom and place them on the chassis side when choosing a vertical orientation.
The CD player comes with an auto standby function, which will automatically put the unit in standby mode after 30 minutes of inactivity. You can easily configure the player via the remote control to wake-up from standby and start immediate playback when a disc is inserted. Once configured, the unit will retain your preferred mode until you change it.
