    Smith-Victor 402180 reviews

    36" Pro-Duty Copy Stand is rated 5.0 out of 5 by 2.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Newer product - Does the job perfectly I needed a copy stand for photographing coins and other small objects, so I needed something sturdy, that wouldn't break the bank - this is it. I believe this just came out, so thus why there's not many reviews on it. I decided to take the risk and am happy I did. I was looking at the Albinar Copy stand which is in the same price range, and costs a bit less. I decided to go with this for several reasons. First, the tower is straight on this one, while the Albinar is angled. This may not seem like a big deal, but I make frequent adjustments, and because the Albinar is angled, the position of your camera is going to change, and this would be very annoying. This one is also a much better build in my opinion. The tower is very solid machined aluminum, and the camera sticks very far out, but doesn't flex much. This is also quite a bit taller than the Albinar, which comes in really handy when I'm using my 105mm Sigma-Nikon Macro lens (the one I'm almost always using). This stand is really simple to put together, and the base connects very firmly to the stand, which is great. If you're using a Sony mirrorless camera like me, get the Sony RMTDSLR2 wireless remote - then you can get perfectly crisp-sharp photos every time. One gripe is that the ruler on the tower is printed on a thin black sheet of metal which is set into the tower - doesn't sit flat, but is wavy all the way down. I don't really need it, so it's really just a small eye sore more than anything. The stand has a large lever you push in to move the carriage up and down - very simple which is fine. It is a little more difficult to make fine adjustments, but it's easy to make the fine focus adjustments on the lens anyway. The big pro to this is you can make large adjustments very quickly, so you're not standing there turning the crank for forever like on other stands. Overall, I'm very happy with it so far, and I think it will last a long time. Sure, the Albinar comes with lights for about the same price, but the lights that come with the Albinar are cheap anyway - if I were you, buy the lights separately, then you can get decent light stands for them and pick out the bulbs you want. I would suggest getting the LOHAS LED Bulb, 150W-200W equivalent, but only 23W. They are 2500 Lumens, Daylight 5000K. This will provide nice white light and won't heat up. If you don't need something as bright, get the 100W equivalent.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect Copy Stand Sturdy construction. Allows for the attachment of cameras with a standard tripod thread. Movement of camera platform on center column is smooth and positive. If anything, I wish the base plate was larger.
