ASUS RX 580 overview

  • 1Description

With an overclocked core, based on AMD's Polaris architecture, and AMD LiquidVR ready, the ASUS Dual OC Radeon RX 580 Graphics Card allows you to have the full virtual reality experience.

Not only for gaming, the Radeon RX 580 supports APIs such as OpenCL and OpenGL. These APIs can take advantage of the GPU's 2304 Stream Processors to accelerate parallel computing tasks, taking some of the processing load off of the CPU.

The front panel of the card features a variety of outputs. There are two DisplayPort 1.4 outputs and two HDMI 2.0b outputs as well as a dual link DVI-D output. Combined with AMD's Eyefinity, the GPU can provide an immersive gaming experience using up to four monitors.

For cooling, ASUS implemented dual Wing-Blade fans. The patented wing-blade design delivers maximum air flow and improved 105% static pressure over the heat sink while also operating quieter than reference cards.

AMD LiquidVR Ready
Experience the immersive world of VR gaming and entertainment. With Polaris architecture and AMD LiquidVR technology, this GPU is compatible with the Oculus Rift and the HTC Vive.
HDR Ready
This card is compatible with HDR (High Dynamic Range) content. When paired with an HDR capable display, you'll be able to experience enhanced contrast and colors for a sharp, vibrant visual experience.
FreeSync Technology
Reduce screen tearing with AMD's FreeSync Technology. FreeSync enables the monitor to dynamically adjust its refresh rate to the frame rate being output by the graphics card, thereby greatly reducing screen tearing, stuttering, and other artifacts.
Eyefinity
With support for up to 4 monitors, AMD Eyefinity allows you to customize how your displays are shown on your desktop. Having multiple displays can not only make you more productivity, but can also provide an immersive gaming experience. If you're looking to stream online via Twitch, having a separate display for the twitch chat as well as the capture window for both your gameplay and webcam can facilitate the process.
CrossFire
Is one graphics card not enough? AMD's CrossFire works with compatible motherboards and allows you to install and combine up to two of the same GPUs to split the processing load and render graphics with improved frame rates and image quality for supported applications.

    ASUS RX 580 reviews

Dual OC Radeon RX 580 Graphics Card is rated 4.3 out of 5 by 7.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from A very good RX 580 card I bought this card for a gaming computer. The 8 GB of VRAM will "future proof" this card somewhat and the Freesync is nice if you have the right monitor. Pros - Very quiet, even when under load - No gaudy LED lighting (although this might be a con for you if you are into this kind of thing) - Great utility support and customer service from ASUS - can't really say the same about some other brands like Power Color, XFX, etc. - Good variety of output ports to suit a bunch of different displays - Stays cool using a the dual-fan cooler and super beefy heat-sink Cons - Check your case compatibility as this is a rather long card. It barely fit inside my computer case. See photo. - This was a $300 card but it still did not come with a metal back plate. At this price point, a back plate should come standard - Limited overclocking potential. I think AMD really wrung out this Polaris architecture for all it was worth in the RX 5xx line of graphics cards

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Terrible Quality. STAY AWAY! I don't know what's happened to Asus lately. I've loved their products in the past and actively chose them when buying a couple of these cards for work. I made a huge mistake. I've had them now for less than TWO WEEKS and the back fan has failed on BOTH cards. One fan has failed so catastrophically that it looks ready to fly off. It's embarrassing quality and I'm shocked a product of this quality ever made it to the shelf. Just as bad, I contacted Asus customer support to submit and RMA and they were extremely unhelpful. Long wait times to speak with a rep, who then stated that my only option was to send the card back to them on my own dollar. I need these cards for work and I don't know what I'll do when I send them both back. They flatly refused to send out an advance RMA card simply because "it's impossible." Wow. Honestly, I'm shocked. Shocked that these cards are designed so poorly as to fail within two weeks without any overclocking or whatsoever and equally shocked that Asus is so unaccommodating when it comes to standing behind their product. These aren't cards I've had for over a year that have seen a lot of wear. In that case, I can understand them expecting me to send it in and pay for shipping. These are cards that have barely been in use for TWO WEEKS that are already failing. Unfortunately I purchased the cards in mid December so they are past the 30 return window (didn't install them until recently because of the holidays). Otherwise I would never deal with Asus's terrible support if I could avoid it. It's shameful honestly. Please take my advice, and STAY AWAY from this card and this company.... at least until they get their act together and stop rushing terribly built products to the shelves to capitalize on high demand right now.
