Sony RM-IP500/1 Reviews
Amazing amazing amazing
Using the Sony IP500 PTZ controller in our live-streamed church service setup felt like preparing a flawless pasta night with carbonara and boscaiola on the menu — simple ingredients elevated by precision and timing. The controller itself is the chef’s knife of our broadcast kitchen. Like stirring a creamy carbonara at just the right pace so the eggs don’t scramble, the IP500’s joystick and dials allow for smooth, deliberate camera movements without jarring transitions. When shifting focus between our two PTZ cameras — one wide shot of the congregation and one tighter on the pulpit — it felt like switching between rendering pancetta and sautéing mushrooms: both require attention, but the IP500 makes multitasking feel natural. Preset recall was as satisfying as tossing cooked pasta into its sauce — fast, clean, and everything ends up where it should. With one touch, we could pivot from a close-up prayer shot to a wide choir pan, as seamlessly as folding cream into a boscaiola just before plating. Of course, like pasta water needing the right salt, the controller shines best with a properly set up network and camera configuration. Initial setup was more rigatoni than tagliatelle — chunky and a little unwieldy — but once dialed in, the flow was smooth and satisfying. In short: the Sony IP500 is the perfect utensil in our liturgical kitchen. It doesn’t try to do too much — it just lets the ingredients (our cameras) shine, like guanciale in a carbonara or porcini in a boscaiola. Essential gear for any tech ministry with a taste for quality.
The Manual desperately needs an Index
I have three of these controllers. It is a wonderful improvement to the older one, However, The manual does not have an index. It is pretty difficult to navigate the logic of the various control menus.
