Letus35 Helix Overview

The Helix 3-Axis Camera Stabilizer (Magnesium) from Letus35 stabilizes cameras weighting up to 16 lb in three axes with its brushless gimbals. The Helix is a powered stabilizer that features a modular design with a removable platform for each of the three axes: roll, pan, and tilt. The modular design allows you to quickly turn your three-axis stabilizer into a one-axis stabilizer. This configuration includes Bluetooth and RC modules. The RC module provides remote control of the pan and tilt functions by a second camera operator, while the Bluetooth module allows you to setup your Helix using an Android device running the BaseCam app, or using a laptop with the BaseCam desktop software.

The Helix balances around the optical center of your camera, reducing stress on the system and your camera's image stabilization system and it also allows nodal camera rolls. The flat bottom design of the Helix allows you to place it down on a flat surface without requiring a stand mount or other support. It incorporates a cold shoe and 1/4"-20 accessory mounting points on the unit and handgrips. The Helix is designed to stabilize your camera while hand-holding the unit; however, with an optional 4th axis, you can also mount the Helix to third party stabilizing systems.

Note:
The Helix is wired according to US standards. Any 3rd-party power accessories must be compatible.
Helix 3-Axis Camera Stabilizer
The Helix is designed to balance and stabilize around the optical center of your camera/lens combination, allowing you to do nodal point rolls.
As the image sensor movement is reduced significantly compared to off-center stabilizers, image stabilization is improved.
Compatible with Sony a7S and other cameras weighing up to 16 lb.
Bluetooth and RC modules provide control of the stabilizer's pan and tilt functions by a second operator
Bluetooth module gives you the ability to connect the Helix to your computer wirelessly, as well as use the BaseCam app to interact with the Helix via an Android device.
You can support the Helix system by holding onto it with two hands; the right handgrip allows you to tilt the Helix, while the left handgrip rotates freely.
Each axis platform of the system allows balance adjustment that reduces operating stress on the unit and the operator, and is indexed in millimeters allowing quick re-sets when switching between lenses.
Re-balancing the Helix after a lens change can be achieved by sliding a single axis forward or back.
Use one axis on top of an optional arm/vest type stabilizer for an auto-horizon solution with an optional 4th axis, or switch to a three-axis setup to go full handheld.
Electrical parts are protected from reverse polarity, overheating, and over-current conditions.
USB interface allows for configuration, control, and firmware upgrades.
Encoders
Prevent motors from losing their position (skipping steps) when bumped or moved too vigorously
Help in increasing the battery life
Increases torque that helps you to capture more panning shots
Helps you to physically adjust the camera's position by hand and have the gimbal maintain this position
Improves stabilization precision

Letus35 Helix Reviews

Stabilizer at the level of Ronin 2

If you do not have money to buy the expensive Ronin 2 or a Movi Pro, this is the best stabilizer much more accessible and that raises cameras DSLRs like cameras of Cinema. I have used the Movi M5 and the Ronin 1 and they have always been a headache because they weigh too much. We needed an Easyrig and everything costly for audiovisual projects came out very expensive. We decided to bet on this Letus Helix Standard stabilizer with coded engines and we have done great. We like the idea that the monitor and the camera are positioned at eye level. With Ronin, you had to raise your arms. The Helix is incredible and its batteries last a lot. For a recording we always carry 3 batteries, but we always use only one battery, although it feeds the Follow Focus Wireless Nucleus-M. Usually we work with Blackmagic Ursa Mini Pro 4.6 k and to power with Helixs battery, you must buy the Letus35 Sony F5 / F55 Power Cable for Helix (XLR to LEMO) Another indispensable accessory for the monitor is the Letus35 15mm Rod Monitor Mount (V.2). If you want to use the wireless Follow Focus, you must buy the Letus35 Helix Rail Adapter Kit and the Letus35 2-Pin LEMO to Four D-Tap Cable to give power through 4 ports. And as a tip, so you can connect a wireless transmitter like the Cosmos 600 from Hollyland, you should get the Letus35 Helix NATO Rail. With that you will get an all-terrain Stabilizer. Until now, my Rental Peru Audiovisual team is doing great, because the encoders make the engines stronger. To incidentally. If you want to use DSLR cameras, such as Mirrorless, it is better to buy a lightweight Smallrig Baseplate so you can take the camera out front. Also from this plate Letus35 Standard Camera Plate for Helix. The one that comes in this equipment is for large and long cameras. What I do not recommend is that you buy the foam and the case that are bad. I almost forgot to tell you that the calibrations are done in 10 minutes and when you master it you will do it in 5 minutes. The Helix application is best handled on iphone and is super friendly and easy to apply some modifications. I hope it helps them if they dare to be more people with this stabilizer.

Follow up question in regards to the Letus 35 and the Letus Pro- what is the difference/better for the Sony FX9?
Asked by: Aaron
The Letus35 Helix 3-Axis Camera Stabilizer with Bluetooth/RC Modules is designed for camera setups weighing up to 16 lb while the Letus35 Letus Helix Pro is designed for setups weighing up to 20 lb along with a front support ring to eliminate flex. Considering the size of the Sony FX9, the Pro version may be a better choice.

Will this hold an Ursa Mini Pro 4.6k? With a lens & battery I’m under 16lbs, but not sure if it will support the form factor.
Asked by: Cary
If your total load is under 16 pounds it should work, however you more than likely will need to add the Letus35 Heavy Duty Camera Plate for Helix, B&H # LELTHXHDCP. The heavy duty plate allows you to use a larger sized camera on the Helix. https://bhpho.to/2iasObp
