Savage Edge Lit Pro overview

  • 1Description

Designed with all the main components you need to light up a scene, the Edge Lit Pro LED Light Kit from Savage is well-suited for those that need soft continuous light in a portable package. It consists chiefly of two Edge Lit Pro LED bi-color panels, two 7' drop stands, a multi-channel remote control, and a padded case for transport that has wheels and a top handle. Accompanying those items are two rotating adapters for connecting the lights and the stands, four Sony NP-F750 batteries for powering both fixtures, a charger for each battery, and two power cords if you prefer running on traditional AC power.

The LED panels feature a unique superellipsoidal shape, having a slim 12.6 x 8.6" frame that is curved around the edges and provides 1677 lumens at a distance of 3.3'. Thanks to a built-in white diffuser and inward-facing LEDs, the light quality is soft and avoids creating harsh shadows. Color temperature can be adjusted from 3200 to 5500K to match other light sources, and with a CRI of 95 the color rendition is notably accurate. Complementing all these features is the multi-channel remote, which can be used to easily adjust the lights from a distance; alternatively, you can connect an optional DMX board via an RJ11 jack, or simply use the LCD back panel for on-board control.

As for the stands, they are made of three sections of aluminum for durability and are air-cushioned to increase safety when lowering. Each one can reach a maximum height of 7' and go as low as 3', with a folded length of 2.75' when completely collapsed for transport. With a load capacity of 12 lb, the drop stands can easily support the LED panels and make for a sturdy rig. They use a reversible 1/4"-20 and 3/8"-16 stud adapter for attachment, which can be deployed on either the top or the side of the stand.

  • Two Edge Lit Pro LED lights, with a 12.6 x 8.6" panel that provides light with a soft and smooth quality

  • Multi-channel remote allows you to wirelessly adjust the settings of each light

    Savage Edge Lit Pro reviews

Edge Lit Pro LED Light Kit is rated 4.3 out of 5 by 3.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Missing the 2 soft cases for the LED lights. I received my Savage Edge Lit Pro LED Light Kit in a timely manner and also most everything was with the kit. It was shipped properly and was in excellent condition when I picked it up at the UPS station. Once I got it home and opened it up, everything was well packed and securely in placed. The only complaint I have is when I open the 2 boxes that contained the actual LED lights I noticed that both boxes didn't contain the soft case that the LED lights are housed in the like the show on the outside of the box. I know this is very small detail but never the less I would like to have those 2 cases. If ti had those 2 cases it would be a 5 STAR rating.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Incredible! I just came back from a blue hour shoot using My new Edge Lit Pro Kit. Incredible! So bright and oh that sweet soft soft light! **Only one issue I hope Savage fixes and that's the ball head attachment of the light to the stand. It seems quite flimsy. I found Myself always holding the light with one hand and the stand with the other. I never actually had a problem. They both held up for hours strong, but they just feel like they won't. Still giving a 5 because these lights are amazing. Now to save up for another kit. **

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great light, a few touches would have made it five stars I'm very pleased with the quality of the light from the units. About the kit Pros: --- Plenty of room for additional stands or tripods as well as some other items. --- The Jump stands are clever and make it easy to pick up and walk around with them, assuming you are using batteries as the power cords would limit your travel. The legs retract when you lift it off the floor to make it as if you are carrying a mono-pod. Cons: --- The securing ring on the power cord connecting to the back of the light goes into a recessed receptacle so I find it find it difficult to quickly connect or disconnect the power cord. It requires a lot more effort and concentration than I feel should be required. --- No case or reasonable protection for the Lights when in the case. The pictures here do not show and the kit does NOT provide the carry case that comes with the light if you buy it stand alone. I bought cases directly from Savage and they are designed for carrying the battery charger, batteries and power cord. If you are always going to pack and unpack neatly then the cases should work well for you. If you want to pack and unpack more quickly you may want to do as I've chosen to do: I bought 17" padded lap top cases to slip the lights into, I have a box to carry lots of batteries because if you are going to use batteries only the NP-F750 batteries you have are spec'd to run 75 minutes at full power. I found that many of my existing batteries didn't run that long so I've replaced them. For the power cords, I just bundle them up and tie a wrap around them. It would have been nice to have the cases provided as part of the kit. The bubble wrap they came in is bulky and clumsy. --- The wheels are three inch diameter and work well but I'd be reluctant to roll them outside on not-smooth surfaces. Overall I'm very happy with the kit and have adapted to its minor shortcomings though the recessed power cord securing is going to annoy me forever.
