Great platform for small ball heads and other gear. Excellent machining and flat parallel faces with satin finish. Knurled edge provides excellent purchase, but two holes are provided for additional leverage. They are about .625in deep and will accept a pin (nail, allen key, etc.) with a diameter about 0.14in. Disc height (thickness) is 6mm.
Using this for suspending / mounting a Genaray Radiance Ballast off the floor, mounted directly on light stand without modifying anything on the ballast. Added a super strong 3M gum type clear removable adhesive in combination with a phottix battery mount. Bought this item for being LARGE. The larger the surface, the stronger the bond is. Removing it off the ballast is extremely easy. Player, turn it bad it’s off. Not a trace of residue. If you don’t know what you’re doing, don’t use this item for this purpose. My ballast is secure, tested and it works. You also need Velcro to hold the ballast up and bottom, plus adding a rubber foot so the entire weight of the ballast sits on that.
