The VariZoom Zoom Control for Canon CN-E 18-80mm & 70-200mm Lenses is a compact, professional, lightweight zoom control with speed control that allows you to control your zoom lens as is if it were an extension of your body. It is compatible with the Canon CN-E 18-80mm and CN-E 70-200mm compact servo cine lenses, as well as select Canon broadcast lenses with a 20-pin connector. The pressure-sensitivity zoom rocker allows for slow or quick zooms, and the integrated speed limiter allows you to adjust the maximum speed of the zoom to suit the needs of the shot. The one-shot autofocus button allows you to grab focus quickly, so you can zoom in, focus, and zoom back out to your frame in a minimum of time, ensuring your shot is sharp. Additionally, the zoom rocker has a built-in record/pause button.

According to Varizoom yes it works with the CN zooms. Also - the wheel on the side is a speed limit wheel NOT focus - though they borrowed the knob from their focus enabled zoom controls.

Yes it can depending on what you need it to do.
It can start/stop record and control focus but it will not be able to zoom in or out unless you are using one of Canon's Cine-zoom lenses that feature a motorized zoom ring.

If you get two adapter cables, yes, you can use the VZRock or any LANC zoom control to control the zoom on the AX-100. While this is awkward, it is the one workaround available. Here are the two cables. Manfrotto AV-R to LANC Cable (7.8 ) B&H # MA522AV. Sony VMC-AVM1 A/V R Adapter Cable B&H # SOVMCAVM1.

Will this work with my Lumix FZ2500?
The FZ2500 has a 2.5mm remote input that is untested as to it's control efficacy. The VariZoom RockDVX Zoom Controller B&H # VAVZROCKDVX has worked with other Panasonic cameras so it might work. If you try it and have success, please let us know.
