I’ve bought some 9.solutions gear in the past and had high expectations - and they were met. So much so, I’m looking to pick up at least one more - a double. My closed unit is used as the mounting point for a 13” tethering iPad complete with cage, Accsoon radio trx, V-mount battery an d small Kondor Blue hub. With the double (or open) you just have to remind yourself that loosening the know unlocks BOTH pin sockets - something that in many use cases (e.g. car rigging) is a key requirement for adjustability.
I keep (10) of these units in my 5/8 kit and use them all the time. I also carry (10) of both the Open Gag and Double Gag variants in that same kit. All of these units are exceptionally crafted, lightweight, and durable. All tools need to be considered in the context of competition; what else would perform the task of this tool? In my opinion, the best tool for performing the same task as this unit is the Mighty Mini grip head. It is a similar weight, a more compact size, and has an easier time grabbing pins that have a recess. The price point of those units is nearly double, and because nearly everything else in my kit is 9.solutions, I preferred to operate with these and don't regret it for a moment. As an aside, the Open Gag variant is one of the most useful additions to my 5/8 kit of all. Mighty Mini does not compete with that option.
