Comprehensive HD18G Overview

Maximize your video and audio capabilities with the 50' Comprehensive Pro AV/IT 18 Gb/s 4K Active Fiber Optic Plenum HDMI Cable. This HDMI cable is designed for commercial and corporate locations that require advanced audio and video support. This cable fully supports the HDMI 2.0b specification, which provides up to 18 Gb/s of bandwidth for 4K Ultra HD video at 60Hz, with 4:4:4 color space, HDCP, HDR, and aspect ratio compatibility up to 21:9 wide angle theatrical-sized displays.

This cable is active, unidirectional, and plenum rated. As part of being plenum rated, this cable features a low-smoke, fire-retardant jacket, and can be routed inside walls and between floors. The unidirectional design requires this cable to be installed in the correct direction, so Comprehensive added the words "Source" and "Display" on the connectors to make installation easier. Active components are built into the cable to perform electrical-to-optical signal conversion, drawing power from the HDMI port so no external power sources are required.

Inside this cable is a polymer fiber optic core versus the more traditional glass. This helps to make the cable thinner and more flexible so it can handle tighter bends during installation. Fiber optic technology also provides you with low power consumption and a greater immunity to EM/RF noise and interference.

It really works for 4k videos

I recently bought an expensive JVC D-ILA 4k projector and needed to make sure I can view content streamed through an Yamaha Aventage receiver from the various 4k sources (Roku and Panasonic 4k Blu-ray player). With my previous non-4k projector, I had a cable running through the crawl space of my house, connected to two wall plates. When I tried to use that cable to stream 4k content, I got nothing showing on the projector. I connected the receiver to the projector directly and everything worked as expected. Since the wall plates have a little cable extension that's not 4k compatible, I cannot run this cable under the house. I have yet to find wall plates that will work with 4k video. However this 4k cable is very light, and bends easily, so I'll route it through my room in the meantime. I also bought their non-active cables, which are much thicker and do not bend as easily. As a result, the back of my receiver has a bunch of messy cables, not easy to organize. The cable is directional so make sure you plug it in the correct way, otherwise it won't work.

I picked this HDMI cables because they looked sturdy and of good quality, but we had problems keeping the signal with them; one of them stop working altogether.
